NFL Comeback Player of the Year Odds 2025-26: CMC Barely Ahead of Hutchinson, Prescott

Last Updated: October 6, 2025 3:52 PM EDT β’ 5 minute read X Social Google News Link

In one of the tightest NFL award races, there are four main contenders leading the Comeback Player of the Year odds.
At the head of the pack is San Francisco 49ers rusher Christian McCaffrey. Dak Prescott, Aidan Hutchinson, and Daniel Jones follow him.
All four contenders finished the 2024 campaign with a major injury or were on a team's practice squad. I'm backing a player who is a bit of a shocker, and somebody I didn't anticipate dropping my NFL picks on.

βοΈ Christian McCaffrey (+160)

McCaffrey, my previous best bet, is the sole leader in the race for Comeback Player of the Year.
The three-time All-Pro was never right in 2024, appearing in just four games with 50 total carries. His final game of the season came in early December.
The 49ers look very different so far this year, with an injured wide receiver corps and quarterback leading me to believe that head coach Kyle Shanahan will continue to heavily feature a run game that McCaffrey headlines. If San Francisco is going to be the class of its division once again, CMC will need to be a significant part of the 49ers' success.
A successful $10 bet on McCaffrey would net $16.00 in profit with an implied probability of 36.36%.

π΄ Daniel Jones (+500)

After a tumultuous tenure in New York and a brief stint in Minnesota on the practice squad, Daniel (Indiana) Jones has emerged as one of the best stories in the NFL through the first several weeks of the NFL season.
He's started the season nearly perfectly, but finally picked up his first loss in week 4 during a heartbreaker versus the Rams. The Colts earned every opportunity to win the game, and whether it was Adonai Mitchell fumbling a ball out of the end-zone, or the defense having only 10 men on the field for the final score, this loss doesn't fall on Jones' shoulders.
If Jones can keep playing at this level, he has a very good shot to take home the coveted Comeback Player of the Year trophy. I advised two weeks ago when Jones' odds were at +750 to take a chance on him. I am yet again telling you to take a shot at +500 betting odds.
Not only does he have the numbers to back up his case, but there's a strong narrative in a market where that plays well.
A successful $10 bet on Daniel Jones would net $50 in profit, with an implied probability of 20%.

π¬ Darren Waller (+2500)

Darren Waller is gaining traction in Comeback Player of the Year discussions, despite not initially being among the 32 players with the shortest odds.
After coming out of retirement this offseason, Waller has reemerged as one of the leagueβs most efficient tight ends, catching eight passes for 105 yards and three touchdowns in his first two games with the Miami Dolphins.
Open about his past struggles with substance abuse, Wallerβs early production makes a compelling case for him to take home the Comeback Player of the Year award.
At +2500, a $10 bet on Waller would profit $250, with an implied probability of 3.85%.
