Two of the most exciting groups at the NFL Scouting Combine hit the field on Day 3 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis when the wide receivers and running backs look to bolster their 2026 NFL Draft stock.
Though none of the wide receivers are likely to challenge Xavier Worthy's record of 4.21, several of the players atop the NFL combine 40-yard dash odds are projected to run sub-4.35. And this running back group is expected to make plenty of noise, too, with Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love leading it.

💨 Who is the fastest WR at the NFL combine?
Best bet: Brenen Thompson, Mississippi State (-160)
The popular pick to clock the fastest 40-yard dash at the entire NFL combine, Brenen Thompson is expected to run somewhere in the 4.27 to 4.30 range. He's a proven track star, having won a 3A 20-meter state title with a 21.27, and he reportedly put up a 10.18-second 100 in high school.
That big-play speed showed up all over his tape at Mississippi State. The 5-foot-9, 170-pound Thompson averaged 18.5 yards per reception and led the FBS in 50-plus-yard receptions (five) this season.
Before his breakout season with the Bulldogs, he hit 23.7 MPH on the GPS.
Sleeper: Kendrick Law, Kentucky (+2000)
It's surprising to see Kendrick Law's odds this long, and behind all four LSU wide receivers. Kentucky's leading receiver (530 yards) is a weapon with the ball in his hands because of his explosiveness, having hit 23.2 MPH on the GPS.
Though he's got more size to his build (205 pounds) than some of these other speedster receivers, Law was a track athlete in high school and hit 10.48 in the 100 and 22.05 in the 200.
The Alabama transfer was on Bruce Feldman's Freaks List for a reason, and Feldman even said that Law could run sub-4.3.
Long shot: Kaden Wetjen, Iowa (+15000)
Although he's been dubbed "quicker than fast," Kaden Wetjen shouldn't have odds this long to run the fastest 40. He's a candidate to clock the fastest 3-cone and short shuttle, and his quickness could translate to a fast 40 ... he hit a 7.14 60-meter in high school.
Wetjen, who began is career at Iowa Western Community College, turned into an All-American at Iowa as a return man thanks to his shiftiness and acceleration.
The two-time Jet Award winner, awarded to the top college return man, had six return touchdowns in his last two seasons with the Hawkeyes.
⏱️ NFL combine 40-yard dash odds: Fastest running back
NFL Scouting Combine odds for the 10 biggest favorites via our best NFL betting sites.
| Player | School | Odds | Implied probability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Demond Claiborne | Wake Forest | +115 | 46.51% |
| Desmond Reid | Pittsburgh | +115 | 46.51% |
| Jadarian Price | Notre Dame | +390 | 20.41% |
| Jeremiyah Love | Notre Dame | +480 | 17.24% |
| Noah Whittington | Oregon | +750 | 11.76% |
| J'Mari Taylor | Virginia | +1400 | 6.67% |
| Adam Randall | Clemson | +2500 | 3.85% |
| Le'Veon Moss | Texas A&M | +2500 | 3.85% |
| Roman Hemby | Indiana | +4500 | 2.17% |
| Mike Washington Jr. | Arkansas | +4500 | 2.17% |
💨 Who is the fastest RB at the NFL combine?
Best bet: Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame (+480)
The track speed and diminutive size of both Demond Claiborne and Desmond Reid have pushed the best offensive weapon in the class down the board here. But Jeremiyah Love is a home run hitter with legit burst. He ran 10.76 in the 100-meter in high school to win a state title.
The All-American was a walking big play at Notre Dame, averaging 6.9 yards per carry each of the past two seasons.
Despite routinely facing stacked boxes, Love was fourth in the country in 15-plus-yard runs (23), and in each of the last two seasons, he had 94-plus-yard touchdown runs.
Sleeper: Mike Washington Jr., Arkansas (+4500)
Already one of the hottest names of draft season, Mike Washington Jr. is poised to follow up a strong Senior Bowl with a flashy NFL combine. Washington is expected to be among the most explosive running backs after posting a top 10 breakaway rate in the Power Four this past season (48.3%).
Even as a bigger back at 228 pounds, Washington is projected to run in the 4.4s after showcasing his long speed all season with 17 runs of 15-plus yards and averaging over six yards per carry.
Washington has also hit 21 MPH on the GPS.
Long shot: Eli Heidenreich, Navy (+15000)
One of the most slept on players at the NFL combine this year, Navy's Eli Heidenreich, shouldn't have the longest odds to run the fastest 40 in the running back group. The Midshipmen's all-time leading receiver (1,994) has hit 20.01 MPH on the GPS.
Though he's moving to running back full-time in the NFL, as Navy's go-to receiver the last few seasons, Heidenreich became one of the best downfield threats in the country thanks to his speed.
In his three seasons playing for the Midshipmen, Heidenreich averaged 18.3 yards per reception and 6.8 yards per rush.
