All eyes will be on Philip Rivers on Sunday afternoon in Seattle, but the veteran quarterback might be looking skyward more than a few times and seeing ominous clouds, which we dive into in our Colts vs. Seahawks weather report.

The 44-year-old veteran who's coming out of retirement to play for the Colts faces a lot to deal with this afternoon, and potentially soggy weather is on that list as you make your NFL Week 15 predictions.

❄️ Colts vs. Seahawks weather forecast: NFL Week 15

Latest weather forecast via NFL Weather for Week 15.

Category Forecast
🌡️ Temp. 54 degrees at kickoff and rising slightly to 55 during the fourth quarter; feels like 49-50 degrees
💨 Wind S winds around 5-7 mph with gusts up to 14 mph
🌧️ Prec. Partly cloudy, with a 63% chance of precipitation, and up to an inch of rain
☀️ Humidity 88% humidity at kickoff, and the same by the fourth quarter

Rivers is not only shaking off several layers of rust after not starting since 2020. The mid-40s grandpa will be attempting to find success against an imposing Seahawks defense (second in points allowed per game) in soggy conditions.

Such is life in the Pacific Northwest as winter looms, and there will be no soft landing for Rivers consequently. Winds are expected to pick up, and that makes for hazardous passing conditions when combined with the high likelihood of rain.

Earlier in the week, our Dustin Saracini dove into how to bet on Philip Rivers' NFL return.

💰 Colts vs. Seahawks betting impact

Rivers was always set to deal with a monumental challenge after such a long layoff and being thrown right into a playoff race. But the difficulty is ratcheted up significantly due to the vaunted defense he'll face, the hostile environment, and the harsh weather conditions.

The latter is now especially key to consider when making your Colts vs. Seahawks player props bets. Here are the main areas the weather will impact.

  • Expect a massive workload for Jonathan Taylor. This was surely set to be the case to begin with given the Rivers of it all today, and Taylor's dominant ways as the NFL's leading rusher. But the lean toward Taylor will now be even more significant. Exposing a 44-year-old to the Seahawks' pass rush was scary enough, but doing it in blustery conditions could get disastrous fast.
  • Turnover potential increases. Rivers may have struggled in pristine conditions, especially against a defense that sits tied for fifth in turnovers (21). But the gusty and rainy weather leads to slipperiness, and the higher chances that a slow-footed quarterback makes poor throws or coughs the ball up under duress. That translates to quality field position and more scoring opportunities for Seattle.
  • Low scoring likely. Beyond the presence of Rivers, the heavier lean on the run game amid tough weather leads to a churning clock, and difficulty reaching the red zone when passing is essential. The Seahawks' offense is already slanted toward the run while sitting fourth leaguewide in rush attempts.
