The latest Chargers vs. Chiefs weather report expects frigid temperatures for this AFC West matchup (1 p.m. ET, CBS) from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. We’re breaking down the latest forecast, including expected temperature, wind, and precipitation, and how it could impact our NFL Week 15 predictions.
❄️ Chargers vs. Chiefs weather forecast: NFL Week 15
Latest weather forecast via NFL Weather for Week 15.
| Category | Forecast |
|---|---|
| 🌡️ Temp. | 16 degrees at kickoff with a low of 19 degrees by 4Q; feels like 12-16 degrees |
| 💨 Wind | NE winds of 2-7 mph |
| 🌧️ Prec. | Sunny, 1% chance of precipitation |
| ☀️ Humidity | 44% humidity at kickoff, 41% by 4Q |
It'll be brutally cold for this late-season meeting at Arrowhead Stadium, but it might not feel like it with clear skies and virtually no chance of rain in Kansas City today. With the wind relatively mild, too, this has the potential to be a classic between these familiar rivals - at least for the side that can fight through bitter wind chills.

💰 Chargers vs. Chiefs betting impact
If you were thinking of buying a ticket to today's game, you might want to reconsider with temperatures below freezing. For those of us watching on TV, though, we could be in for a treat.
With essentially no concern of rain, snow, or any adverse precipitation along with mild winds and sunny skies, both of these teams should be in full position to execute their game plans. There's only one issue: the temperature won't get above 20 degrees all day, and the wind chill could reach as low as -6 degrees.
Here's how I'd consider the weather when betting on Chargers vs. Chiefs player props and game lines:
- A battle of wills between rivals. This is often a theme I'm highlighting with these cold-weather games, but we've seen it play out this season: the tougher team often wins in the harshest environments. That's especially of concern for the Chargers, who play half their games in the domed environment of SoFi Stadium, while the Chiefs should be more accustomed to playing their best in the bitter cold.
- Can these quarterbacks rise above? Cold games often signal conservative game plans and big games for bruising running backs, but both of these teams rely heavily on elite quarterbacks and high-volume passing attacks. There is no reason that shouldn't continue today - without snow or strong winds to disrupt the passing game, I wouldn't be surprised if we see both sides excel in the short-to-intermediate areas.
- Short-yardage backs could shine. While these quarterbacks should have every oppportunity to dictate the terms offensively between the 20s, playing in below-freezing temperatures will wear down a defense over time. That opens the door for bruising backs - like Kansas City's Kareem Hunt - to use their physicality to their advantage and turn tough yards into big gains or touchdowns over time.
