Best ATS pick: Texans -2.5 ⭐⭐⭐
Here's what our NFL expert Gary Pearson wrote this week on why he's expecting the Texans to cover the spread tonight on Monday Night Football:
"Inept, listless, inefficient, ghastly. Pick your favorite of those four words, and you have a perfect embodiment of the Texans' Week 1 offensive performance. There is some good news, though. First, they get to play at home, which makes snap counts easier at the very least.
And second, the Buccaneers' pass defense struggled against Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. in the opener, allowing 298 yards while receiving the same 21st-ranked pressure grade (61.9) it did last season. That should present an ideal opportunity - even with center Jake Andrews unavailable - for Stroud and his receivers to gain confidence and source some productivity."
Pearson also detailed his best bet on the total and his favorite player prop tonight in his Buccaneers vs. Texans prediction.
Best player prop pick: Nick Chubb Under 50.5 rushing yards ⭐⭐⭐
Here's what I had to say about Nick Chubb going Under this number on Monday Night Football, courtesy of my best Buccaneers vs. Texans player prop bets.
"This play has more to do with the Tampa Bay run-stopping unit and less to do with Nick Chubb's ability to run the ball.
We all saw what Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson and the Falcons' offensive line did to the Minnesota Vikings in prime time last night - they repeatedly gashed Minnesota's front-seven for big runs while creating holes a truck could drive through. Well, Atlanta tried that against the Bucs in Week 1, too, and Tampa's rush EPA per play allowed was -0.51.
Overall, the Bucs allowed just 2.9 yards per carry against one of the best running backs in football. Chubb may be in for tough sledding tonight against one of the best run-stopping units in the NFL, and we're taking his Under with four-star confidence as part of our best Buccaneers vs. Texans player props.
Make sure you head to DraftKings to get 50.5 rushing yards, as you'll find 48.5-49.5 everywhere else. A $10 winning wager at -110 betting odds (52.4%) would net $9.09 in profits."
I'm also looking at Bucky Irving to score a touchdown, and for Mayfield to cash the Over on his passing + rushing yards number on Monday Night Football.
Best touchdown scorer prediction: Emeka Egbuka ⭐⭐⭐
Here's why our NFL expert Esten McLaren is betting on Bucs rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka as his best anytime touchdown scorer pick for Monday Night Football:
"Emeka Egbuka, the Buccaneers' 19th overall pick out of Ohio State, caught four of his six targets against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1 and turned those into 67 yards and two touchdowns. None of those looks came inside the red zone, but he had a long of 30 and averaged 11.2 yards per target on the day.
The Texans gave up 10.52 yards per target in their season opener, while allowing 16 of 21 targets to wide receivers to be caught for 221 total yards.
Egbuka led Bucs receivers with 93% of the snaps played last week, and his standout debut should earn him more trust from coaches and QB Baker Mayfield."
McLaren also dropped his best anytime touchdown scorer bets for the Raiders vs. Chargers game tonight.
Best first touchdown scorer prediction: Nico Collins ⭐⭐⭐
Here's why our NFL expert Sean Tomlinson is betting on Texans wideout Nico Collins to score the first touchdown of the game tonight:
"Nico Collins could continue to be the lone twinkling star amid an offense that's frustratingly sputtering. That's not fun news for Texans fans, but it'll play just fine here for our purposes due to his target-magnet ways.
Collins appeared in only 12 games last year due to injury, and he still drew 99 targets overall. More importantly in this market, he was given 13 red-zone targets and accounted for 20.3% of the Texans' red-zone looks despite his lengthy absence.
He's scored 15 times over his last 27 games across two seasons. Even more encouragingly, Collins has showcased his speed and deep-ball ability often, and he doesn't need to be near the goal-line to make a house call. He's not far removed from a 2023 season when Collins averaged 16.3 yards per reception (seventh)."
