Hopefully, Quinshon Judkins ate his Wheaties this week. Because with Shedeur Sanders getting his first NFL start, there’s no doubt that Cleveland will lean heavily on its talented rookie running back to take some pressure off its raw rookie quarterback.

With Joe Flacco and another rookie — Dillon Gabriel — under center, Judkins averaged 18.37 carries over his last eight contests. That includes 9- and 12-carry efforts in blowout losses at Pittsburgh and New England. Remove those contests, and Judkins’ per-game jumps to 21 carries (including four games of 20-plus totes). Another reason the Browns would be wise to put the offense in Judkins’ hands: This is actually a winnable game.

Look, I’m not one to kick a man when he’s down, but Sanders was dreadful in relief of fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel last week. How dreadful? His 13.5 passer rating would’ve been higher had he chucked all 16 of his passes into the ground. 

As it was, Sanders had four completions for 47 yards, and threw an interception. Now let’s be generous and say that Sanders completes 55% of his pass Sunday. He’d have to throw 29 times to reach 16 completions. Not happening, especially in what should be a competitive (if ugly) game.
