Broncos vs. Commanders Prediction & Opening Odds for Sunday Night Football: NFL Week 13

I’m selling high on the Broncos following a bye week after their big win over the Chiefs, with Commanders +6.5 as my top play.

My Broncos vs. Commanders prediction analyzes which team will play better off of last week’s bye, as they meet in a Sunday Night Football matchup at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Md. (8:20 p.m. ET on NBC/Peacock).

The opening odds have the Broncos as a 6.5-point road betting favorite. While my early picks back the Commanders, I also suggest bettors hold out to see if this line reaches the key number of seven. It’s all part of my NFL Week 13 predictions.

🎖️ Commanders +6.5 (-105) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

When these teams last played in Week 11, Denver was busy winning its eighth straight game and finishing its best 11-game start (9-2) since 2015, when it won the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, Washington enters this game amid a six-game losing streak, the longest active streak in the NFL. And if it drops another one this week, that would mark Dan Quinn’s longest losing streak in his NFL head coaching career.

I prefer the contrarian play with the Commanders, as the Broncos have been playing with fire for much of the season. When they were 8-2, they led the NFL in punts and penalty yards. They also were just 1-2 against teams that entered Week 12 with a winning record, while owning five wins against teams with three or fewer victories.

In the fourth quarter this season, Bo Nix ranks third in completion percentage (69%), fourth in passing yards (750), second with nine passing and rushing touchdowns, and has tied for the most game-winning drives (five). But a spread this large likely takes away some of the need for Nix’s late-game heroics and opens the possibility of a late Washington backdoor cover.

DraftKings is one of the only best sports betting sites charging less than -106 at 51.46% implied odds to back the underdogs. At a price of -105, my $10 wager would return $9.52 in profits if Washington covers the +6.5 spread.

  • Moneyline: Broncos -310 | Commanders +250

↔️ Broncos vs. Commanders line movement

Compared to other lookahead lines involving teams playing in Week 12, this line is not likely to budge much early in the week, as neither team had a game in Week 12 for bettors to analyze any recent performances.

However, the early wagers just based on the lookahead line are nearly 2/1 in favor of the Broncos. Therefore, I would not put any Commanders backers off waiting to see if this line ticks up to the key number of +7, as it certainly will not move in Denver’s favor to +6 or lower based on early data.

The total has already ticked down from an opening number of 44.5 to 43.5 at most best sports betting apps, which makes getting nearly a touchdown with the ‘dogs that much more valuable.
