I'm going to bet Puka Nacua for Super Bowl MVP before the odds shorten, and here's why you should, too.
When you think of the best wide receivers in the world, who comes to mind? With the NFC Championship fast approaching, I immediately think of Nacua and his Seattle counterpart, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. While both are in a solid position to win Super Bowl MVP, one will be eliminated on Sunday. If, like me, you expect the Los Angeles Rams to prevail, you'll want to hop aboard the Nacua MVP train before the currently exceptional value slips away.
This analysis supplements our Conference Championship predictions.
Why bet Puka Nacua for Super Bowl MVP now?
When looking at the Super Bowl MVP odds, you'll notice that the Rams' All-Pro wideout is receiving the fifth-shortest odds and second-shortest of non-QBs.
His +1700 odds are tied with Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III. Only one other player, Seahawks' wide receiver Smith-Njigba, is more likely to win Super Bowl MVP for those who don't throw the ball for a living.
So, why will I be locking in Nacua to win Super Bowl MVP now?
His odds will inevitably worsen after Los Angeles, which I back in my Rams vs. Seahawks prediction, advances to the Super Bowl.
If Los Angeles wins, it would not only, in all likelihood, feature a Rams vs. Patriots Super Bowl matchup that would be pure cinema, but it would also mean Nacua's odds shortening faster than my patience when my 3-year-old son goes rogue.
Is Puka Nacua to win Super Bowl MVP a good bet?
Yes, it is.
The third-year receiver enjoyed a monster season, often tossing the Rams on his monstrous shoulders. He had four games with at least 167 receiving yards. His 2025 showpiece game, though, came against the team standing between the Rams and a place in the Super Bowl.
Nacua went off the last time he played at Lumen Field, shredding the Seattle Seahawks' top-ranked pass defense (via DVOA) to the tune of 225 yards.
The 24-year-old eclipsed the 100-yard barrier seven times, including his 111-yard performance in Carolina during the Wild Card Round.
He had the most receptions during the regular season (129), the second-most receiving yards (1,715) behind JSN's 1,793, and scored the sixth-most TDs (10), tied with, you guessed it, Smith-Njigba.
How often do wide receivers win Super Bowl MVP?
I'm sure I don't have to inform you which position wins Super Bowl MVP disproportionately more than any other.
Not to fuel the fire, but I'm also backing the dude who chucks the ball to Nacua, and I detailed why in my Super Bowl MVP odds and prediction.
QBs won five of the last six Super Bowl MVPs. The lone exception in that timeframe was another Ram, Cooper Kupp, who now plays for the Seahawks.
Those under center have won the most prestigious playoff award 34 times, with wide receivers coming in at second place with nine.
Five wide receivers won the Super Bowl MVP since 2000, including just two in the last 16 years. Kupp won in 2021, thanks to his eight receptions for 92 yards and 2 TDs. Stafford, meanwhile, had 3 TDs and 283 passing yards, but threw 2 picks, sealing his non-MVP fate.
🛑 What happens to a Super Bowl MVP bet if players you back are eliminated?
All bets in this market are action, which means if a player you choose to win Super Bowl MVP doesn't actually make it to the Big Game, your bets won't be void - they'll be treated as a losing wager.
