Temperatures will be somewhat tolerable for January in Philadelphia, at least when the wind isn't gusting at its peak.
There's a small chance of slight precipitation, which could take the form of light snow if it comes later in the game. But the most significant weather threat as you make your 49ers vs. Eagles prediction will come from the wind, which will hover around 15 mph and gust up to 28 mph.
49ers vs. Eagles weather impact
- Rushing comes into play more. These two teams might need to stray from their core offensive identities if there are periods when the wind is gusting more, making passing difficult. The 49ers and Eagles ranked 24th and 18th, respectively, in rushing offense throughout the regular season.
- Eagles' run defense could get exposed. The Niners have been struggling to run overall, but Christian McCaffrey has been finding his form recently while posting 117 rushing yards in Week 16 and 140 in Week 17. It could spell trouble for Philadelphia's 22nd-ranked run defense if the weather forces San Francisco to run more and that late-season version of McCaffrey shows up.
- Tough kicking conditions. The Eagles' Jake Elliott produced the league's second-worst field-goal percentage at 74.1, and the wind gusts could expose his already struggling leg.
