It’s time for my UNLV vs. Memphis prediction ahead of tipoff at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn. (ESPN).
Memphis (1-1) is a 9.5-point betting favorite against UNLV (1-2), though neither team has been that impressive to start the season. The Tigers are coming off a road loss to Ole Miss, while the Runnin’ Rebels were upset by Montana last time out.

🏀 UNLV vs. Memphis preview & score prediction
Get ready for a track meet. I like the Over as my favorite UNLV vs. Memphis prediction, especially at BetMGM’s -105 value on 161.5 points, netting $9.52 on a $10 bet. This total is as high as 162.5 at the rest of our best sports betting sites.
Can UNLV get stops?
In its last game, UNLV gave up 102 points to Montana at home. Now imagine what Penny Hardaway’s Tigers could do when they host the Runnin’ Rebels on Sunday.
Josh Pastner, who coached Memphis from 2010-16, is in his first season at the helm in Las Vegas. He took some big swings in the transfer portal on high-major players, but that hasn’t translated to success on the defensive end.
UNLV ranks 200th in the nation in adjusted defensive efficiency. The Runnin’ Rebels have allowed an average of 94 points in their two losses. At the same time, they want to push the pace and score, ranking 74th in tempo and 83rd in offensive efficiency.
That’s a game script Memphis will be more than happy with at home. The Tigers are 65th in offensive efficiency and 63rd in tempo. They have averaged more than a point per possession in both games thus far. All signs point toward an Over on Sunday.
Score prediction: Memphis 88, UNLV 77

🆚 UNLV vs. Memphis matchup to watch
Memphis' offense vs. UNLV's defense
If it’s not clear by now, I expect Memphis to score on Sunday. That’s why the Tigers’ team total is so attractive, especially at Caesars’ offering of 85.5. The -115 value produces a profit of $8.70 on a $10 bet. This total is a point higher at all other best sports betting apps.
UNLV has surrendered more than a point per possession in all three games thus far, including 1.26 PPP against Montana. EvanMiya’s projections have Memphis averaging 1.22 PPP on Sunday, finishing with 87.1 points.
One thing that could help create even more cushion is that the Runnin’ Rebels like to foul. Opposing teams are getting 26.2% of their scoring production from free throws, a mark that ranks 49th in the country. There is a reason why this is my four-star play.
Best prop bet: Memphis Over 85.5 points (-115 via Caesars)
