The Oklahoma State Cowboys desperately need to win Wednesday's Big 12 tournament matchup with the Oklahoma Sooners to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive. Read on for our Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State college basketball picks based on the top NCAAB odds.

The Big 12 tournament is set to begin with the opening round on Wednesday in Kansas City, MO. Two teams will earn a spot in Thursday’s quarterfinal round, which is when the fun really begins for what was the best league in college basketball this season.

West Virginia’s opening-round matchup against Texas Tech is interesting but also difficult to handicap due to the Red Raiders suspending head coach Mark Adams and having nothing to play for.

Seventh-seeded Oklahoma State, meanwhile, should be plenty motivated ahead of its matchup with 10th-seeded Oklahoma. Mike Boynton’s Cowboys need to pick up a win or two in the Big 12 tourney to improve their chances of making the NCAA Tournament.

Here is our best Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State college basketball pick (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

The Cowboys ended the regular season with a 71-68 victory over the Red Raiders, which was critical because it kept their NCAA Tournament hopes alive for another week. Teams don’t make the Big Dance as an at-large bid with a .500 record, and Oklahoma State (17-14) would have been dangerously close if it lost in Lubbock last Saturday.

According to BracketMatrix, Oklahoma State is the second team out behind Wisconsin and would therefore have no shot of making the NCAA Tournament with a loss Wednesday. The Cowboys might even need to knock off Texas on Thursday to ensure their invite to the Big Dance.

In addition to having more to play for, it helps that Oklahoma State won both regular-season meetings with Oklahoma. Both games were decided by double-digits, though senior guard Avery Anderson played in both contests, and he remains sidelined this weekend.

Despite not having Anderson, OSU is built to win this matchup with its 20th-ranked adjusted defensive efficiency. The Cowboys rank 18th in 2-point defense, which is where the Sooners get over 50% of their point production this season. OU has just three wins since the calendar flipped to February, and Porter Moser’s squad appears ready to pack it in.

These lines tend to be extremely sharp in the postseason, so we are going to take the Moneyline rather than touching the 1 or 1.5-point spread. As long as the ML is -115 or shorter, we recommend this play as a three-star pick.

FanDuel (-114)

DraftKings FanDuel Barstool Caesars PointsBet
Oklahoma State ML Oklahoma State ML Oklahoma State ML Oklahoma State ML Oklahoma State ML
-125 -114 -125 -120 -115

The spread is priced at 1 or 1.5 at most sportsbooks as of Wednesday morning. But we prefer paying the extra four cents at FanDuel to take the ML, in case this game is decided by a single point like Ken Pomeroy’s projected score of 68-67 would suggest.

Unabated’s line comparison calculator confirmed that it is better for us to lay the -114 on the ML rather than going with the standard -110 juice on the 1-point spread. The spread is considered the better line at anything -117 or longer, so keep that in mind if the line ends up moving.

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State odds analysis

The betting lines for this game haven’t really moved much since opening on Tuesday afternoon. The Sooners actually started as 1-point favorites before the line flipped in favor of the Cowboys. The total is sitting at 135 after starting at 135.5.

Oklahoma is 14-16-1 against the spread and 16-14-1 to the Over so far this season. Entering tonight’s matchup, the Cowboys are 15-16 ATS and 15-14-2 to the Over. OSU covered both meetings with OU by a combined 27.5 points and both contests finished Over the closing point total.
