My Gonzaga vs. Alabama prediction tackles a signature showdown as part of Monday’s Players Era slate in Las Vegas. Tipoff from MGM Garden Arena is at 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT).
No. 13 Gonzaga is a 4.5-point betting favorite over No. 11 Alabama, but the total (176.5) is a bigger part of this game’s story.

🏀 Gonzaga vs. Alabama preview & score prediction
The full-game total is high at 176.5, which makes sense given what both teams can do offensively. However, my Under bet is banking on Gonzaga’s defense being legitimate, especially since a $10 bet nets a $9.52 profit at this -105 price tag.
How good is Gonzaga’s defense?
Gonzaga ranks fifth in adjusted defensive efficiency, per KenPom. If that seems high, you are correct. The Bulldogs haven’t ranked higher than 29th on that end of the floor since 2022, when they were a No. 1 seed.
When the Bulldogs are elite on the defensive end, that’s generally meant they are one of the top teams in college basketball. I think they are one of the top teams in the sport, so I’m banking on their defense being legit.
Gonzaga is giving up an average of 57.8 points per game this year. The Bulldogs haven’t allowed more than 68 points in a contest. A matchup against Alabama is a big test to determine if they can get stops.
Alabama is seventh in adjusted offensive efficiency this year. The Crimson Tide rank sixth in adjusted tempo. They have scored at least 80 points in all four games thus far. If the Bulldogs can slow this matchup down a tad, they should hold the Crimson Tide in check.
While I'm on the total, Mike Spector has a place on a side in his college basketball best bets today.
Score prediction: Gonzaga 87, Alabama 83

🆚 Gonzaga vs. Alabama matchup to watch
Graham Ike vs. Alabama’s rebounding issues
Gonzaga big man Graham Ike ranks 49th nationally with a defensive rebound rate of 26.6%. He’s averaged 9.2 rebounds per game, grabbing at least nine boards in four of his five contests. The lone exception was when he played a season-low 21 minutes.
Ike’s chances of controlling the glass are high on Monday. Alabama ranks 257th in the country in offensive rebound rate. The Crimson Tide are 172nd in defensive rebound rate. They lost the rebound battle, 52-28, in their loss to Purdue.
Ike and Gonzaga should win the battle on glass in Las Vegas.
Best prop bet: Graham Ike Over 8.5 rebounds (-146 via FanDuel)
