My Clemson vs. Georgia prediction breaks down this Palmetto Bracket matchup of the Shriners Children’s Charleston Classic from TD Arena in Charleston, S.C. (1 p.m. ET, ESPN).
Clemson and Georgia won a pair of one-possession games against West Virginia and Xavier on Friday, setting up this enticing ACC vs. SEC matchup of teams with a combined 11-1 record. With the Tigers likely to force the Bulldogs to play more half-court offense than accustomed, I am backing the short betting favorite.

🏀 Clemson vs. Georgia preview & score prediction
At one point in its last game against West Virginia, Clemson had as low as a 14% win probability, trailing by 10 with just over eight minutes to play.
But the Tigers should use that momentum, as well as the in-state support from the Charleston crowd, to spur them to victory against the unbeaten Bulldogs.
Xavier laid blueprint for how to defend Georgia
Georgia plays at the 13th-fastest tempo, which has led it to scoring 92-plus points in four games. But its scoring total has also dropped in four consecutive games, as teams are slowly starting to figure out how to deal with Georgia’s fast pace.
The good news for Georgia fans is that despite Xavier holding it to its slowest pace of the season, the Bulldogs still totaled 21 transition possessions, slightly below their season average. But Xavier’s zone also held the Bulldogs to 0.68 points per possession in 21 half-court trips, so it will be interesting to see if Clemson deploys any zone today.
The Tigers have proven to be a great tournament team, winning 10 of their last 14 games at neutral sites since 2023.
Sharp action appears to be backing Clemson, whose point spread has risen from an opening number of -1.5 to -2.5. The fact that FanDuel is charging just -108 (51.92% implied probability) to lay the points is why bettors are also getting a great moneyline number there as well.
It is the only one of the best sports betting sites at less than -150 and would net $6.85 on a winning $10 wager if the Tigers win outright.
Score prediction: Clemson 79, Georgia 77

🆚 Clemson vs. Georgia matchup to watch
Somtochukwu Cyril vs. Clemson defense
The Tigers defense is elite at forcing opposing offenses to operate deep in the shot clock, ranking in the 99th percentile of last-four second shot clock rate faced. They also spend an average of 19.8 seconds on defense per possession, the third-most in the country.
While Georgia’s full-court pressure has allowed it to generate turnovers and score easy baskets at a high rate, Clemson has had the ball stolen from it at the third-lowest rate among D-I teams entering the weekend.
The lack of easy buckets, especially off of offensive rebounds, should limit Georgia center Somtochukwu Cyril’s ceiling for points, even though he has surpassed this projected total in four of six games.
Best prop bet: Somtochukwu Cyril Under 7.5 points (-110 via bet365)
