🏀 Miami vs. Purdue player prop pick (12:10 p.m. ET, CBS)

Braden Smith Over 9.5 assists (+100, bet365)

Our college basketball expert Brenden Schaeffer expects the NCAA assists record-holder to keep racking up dimes against Miami to open today's slate:

“Braden Smith set the all-time NCAA assists record in Purdue’s First Round win over Queens, and I don’t see any reason for him to stop now. Miami clogged the paint which led to the majority of field-goal opportunities to have an assist chance attached. The Hurricanes permit 13.9 assists per game (217th) and has allowed 16.3 per game over its last three contests. Smith averages 9.0 assists per game on the year and has cleared this line in three of his past five games.”

🏀 Kentucky vs. Iowa State player prop pick (2:45 p.m. ET, CBS)

Otega Oweh Under 23.5 points (−110, bet365)

Schaeffer fades Kentucky’s star after a 35-point Round 1 explosion against an Iowa State team with an elite defense and slower pace.

“Otega Oweh did it all for the Wildcats against Santa Clara, but this matchup against Iowa State reminds me more of the way the Florida Gators limited him to just 10 points in the SEC Tournament in his previous game. Florida’s sixth-best defensive rating (KenPom) in the nation ranks one spot behind Iowa State’s unit. Not to mention the way the Cyclones play a significantly slower pace (208th adjusted tempo vs. 26th for Florida) that could further suppress possessions and scoring.”

🏀 St. John’s vs. Kansas player prop pick (5:15 p.m. ET, CBS)

Zuby Ejiofor Over 8.5 rebounds (+110, bet365)

Our college basketball expert Phil Wood targets Kansas’ dismal rebounding defense in a matchup after Ejiofor has grabbed nine or more boards in three of his last four.

“The combination of Ejiofor and Dillon Mitchell causes a serious problem for Kansas. Kansas is allowing 36.8 rebounds per game, which ranks 312th in the nation. Even worse, Kansas is allowing 12.4 offensive rebounds per game, which ranks 346th. St. John’s is excellent on the offensive glass, averaging 13.1 boards per game (27th nationally). Ejiofor is averaging 3.3 offensive rebounds per game. Additionally, Ejiofor leads St. John’s with 7.3 rebounds per game, and he has at least nine in three of his last four games.”

🏀 Tennessee vs. Virginia player prop pick (6:10 p.m. ET, TNT)

Nate Ament Over 1.5 3-pointers made (+135, bet365)

Our college basketball expert Mike Spector sees plus-money value on the Volunteers’ shooter in a plus-matchup today in the second round.

“If Virginia’s 2-point percentage defense is going to be stingy again, Tennessee will likely have to fire away from 3-point range early and often. The Cavaliers’ opening round opponent, Wright State, was not known as a volume shooting type of team. But instead of the Raiders challenging Thijs De Ridder and Ugonna Onyenso at the rim, a team that averaged nearly seven 3-pointers per game in the regular season had already exceeded that by halftime (eight), en route to 13 made threes for the game.”

🏀 Iowa vs. Florida player prop pick (7:10 p.m. ET, TBS)

Rueben Chinyelu Over 11.5 rebounds (−105, bet365)

Wood backs the nation’s third-best rebounder in a strength-vs.-strength matchup against an Iowa squad without a true threat to keep Chinyelu off the glass.

“Florida is the best rebounding team in the country, averaging 45.7 per game, and Chinyelu is a big part of the reason why. Chinyelu ranks third in the nation with 11.5 rebounds per game, and he’s averaging 4.0 offensive boards per game. He also has at least 12 rebounds in 16 games this season. And Iowa doesn’t have anyone who can compete with Chinyelu down low, as no Iowa player averages more than 4.7 rebounds per game.”

🏀 Utah State vs. Arizona player prop pick (7:50 p.m. ET, truTV)

Mason Falslev Under 15.5 points (−112, bet365)

Wood fades Utah State’s leading scorer after three straight games without a made 3-pointer as he faces one of the best shooting defenses in the country.

“Falslev scored 22 points in the first round, but I’m shocked this number is around his season average of 16.2 points per game. Falslev has failed to make a single 3-pointer in three consecutive games, despite averaging 1.3 makes per game this season. Even if he makes one, I don’t expect more than that against a 3-point defense allowing just 31.4%. Arizona is one of the best shooting defenses in the nation, and he only averages 11.3 field goal attempts per game.”

🏀 UCLA vs. UConn player prop pick (8:45 p.m. ET, TNT)

Tarris Reed Over 16.5 points (−105, bet365)

Spector targets UCLA’s susceptible interior defense against Reed after his monstrous effort in the first round against Furman.

“Over the last month, UCLA is a poor rim-protecting defense, ranking in the bottom-200 in 2-point percentage allowed. Interior defense has been such a concern for Mick Cronin that he switched to a zone defense for large stretches. But no matter how the Bruins choose to defend the Huskies, this sets up as a big game for Tarris Reed, who has exceeded this projected total in three of the last four games. He is also coming off a season-high 31 against Furman.”

🏀 Texas Tech vs. Alabama player prop pick (9:45 p.m. ET, TBS)

Donovan Atwell Over 16.5 points (−120, bet365)

Wood backs the Red Raiders’ sharpshooter to exploit Alabama’s biggest defensive weakness in this second-round clash.

“Atwell is a great 3-point shooter, averaging 45.9% from beyond the arc. He’s made at least three in 15 consecutive games. Alabama ranks 198th in 3-point percentage allowed, giving up 8.2 3-pointers per game, which ranks 253rd in the country. He’s led Texas Tech in scoring in four of the Red Raiders’ seven games without Toppin, and he ended the regular season scoring at least 18 in three consecutive games.”
