The 76ers had been enjoying a feel-good season before star point guard Tyrese Maxey went down to injury earlier this month. Philly is scrapping to make the NBA Playoffs, but the Sixers are having to do so without their top player. Sixers fans and fantasy basketball owners are currently wondering when Maxey will be back and return to the court. Below, we will dish out a Maxey injury update, take a look at his fantasy stock, and also take a glance at 76ers betting odds.

⏳ When will Tyrese Maxey return and be back with Sixers?

Maxey was making a legitimate case for NBA MVP before going down with a tendon injury in his right pinkie finger. The two-time All-Star has not played since March 7 and it was determined on March 10 that he would be “re-evaluated in three weeks.”

It is expected that a decision on Maxey’s return date will come on or around March 31. If he is cleared to play around that time, the soonest we could see him back in a Sixers uniform is Wednesday, April 1 at the Washington Wizards.

Here is a look at the Sixers’ schedule around the time that Maxey is expected to be back.

  • Wednesday, April 1: 76ers at Wizards
  • Friday, April 3: Timberwolves at 76ers
  • Saturday, April 4: Pistons at 76ers
  • Monday, April 6: 76ers at Spurs
  • Thursday, April 9: 76ers at Rockets

NBA teams typically like for their returning players to come back for a home date, so Friday, April 3 looks like the most logical spot for Maxey’s return.

The 76ers’ regular season concludes on Sunday, April 12. Philly is currently a half game behind the Hawks for the sixth playoff spot in the East. If they are not able to make it into the top six, then they would play in the Play-In Tournament, which will take place April 14-17. Surely, the Sixers will want to have Maxey at 100 percent around that time.

❓ Is Tyrese Maxey out for the season?

Maxey has not yet been ruled out for the season, but there is the possibility that he won’t play again in 2025-26 if there is a setback.

It is believed that Maxey is dealing with a Grade 1 pinky finger strain. The recovery for this injury is anywhere from a few days to six weeks.

When Maxey was initially injured, the injury was believed to simply be a pinky sprain that would keep him out for just a few games. But an MRI later revealed a tendon injury.

Recovery from a major tendon injury in your finger can be up to three months.
