A rematch of last year's Western Conference finals takes place as the Minnesota Timberwolves visit the Oklahoma City Thunder. Tipoff from Paycom Center in Oklahoma City is set for 1 p.m. ET, and the defending champion Thunder are the 8.5-point betting favorite.

My Timberwolves vs. Thunder player props today as part of our NBA picks and best bets back the Overs on two of the league's biggest superstars in Anthony Edwards and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, while adding another wager on Julius Randle's rebounding prop.

💰 Best Timberwolves vs. Thunder prop bet

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 32.5 points (-112)

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander made history by breaking Wilt Chamberlain’s record for consecutive games with 20-plus points. He won’t slow down against a Timberwolves defense that he averaged 31.4 points per game against in the Western Conference finals, when defenses are more admittedly ramped up.

Gilgeous-Alexander has seemingly locked up a second consecutive MVP award, according to the NBA MVP odds. But he has an opportunity to add to his resume in a nationally televised game, and getting to the free-throw line another 10-plus times, as he averaged against Minnesota last year, will help his scoring ceiling.

🔥 More Timberwolves vs. Thunder prop picks

Anthony Edwards Over 3.5 3-pointers made (+126)

Anthony Edwards enters this game ranked third in the league in scoring, 2.1 points per game behind Gilgeous-Alexander for second place. This is Edwards’ chance to gain ground in that race for the scoring title in this head-to-head matchup, and I look for him to get on the scoreboard early and often by launching 3-point attempts in isolation matchups.

These are understandable plus-money odds for the Over considering Oklahoma City leads the NBA in Defensive Efficiency. But Edwards also entered the weekend in third with 3.5 3-point made field goals per game, tied with Kon Knueppel, who has already set a rookie record for made threes.

Edwards is due for positive regression after shooting just 28.2% from beyond the arc in the playoff series against the Thunder last year.

Julius Randle Under 6.5 rebounds (-108)

Julius Randle ranks 37th in the league averaging 6.9 rebounds per game. But his rebounding total has also dipped in four consecutive games from nine against the Magic to four against the Warriors, despite him consistently getting 26 to 28 minutes a night.

Two of those games in that four-game span were part of a back-to-back, hence why it isn’t surprising he didn’t top 28 minutes in those games. But he played just 27 minutes on Friday after a day off, and the team is clearly hoping its former All-Star is healthy come playoff time.

Randle’s 5.8 rebounds per game in the Western Conference finals ranked third among all Timberwolves players, and I do not expect Randle to all of a sudden match the Thunder’s physicality now.

🚀 Timberwolves vs. Thunder same-game parlay

I love what this nationally televised game means for each team’s best player, as Gilgeous-Alexander and Edwards should trade baskets while trying to maintain their lead in the scoring race. Since I also expect a higher-scoring contest than usual in a game involving the league’s top defense, that lowers the ceiling for a player like Randle’s rebounds.

💡 How I'm betting Timberwolves vs. Thunder

Follow all of our NBA analysis and expert predictions this season.

I would have been more conservative on Gilgeous-Alexander and Edwards’ player props had this game been on either end of a back-to-back for either team. But both the Timberwolves and Thunder had off yesterday and are off tomorrow, so I am backing the fresh legs of both teams’ superstars with one-unit plays on their props.

I wouldn’t go too crazy with backing alternate point totals for Gilgeous-Alexander, as he has consistently scored 30-34 points in 36% of his games since the start of the 2023 season.
