Our Timberwolves vs. Cavaliers NBA player props are based on the best NBA odds, and look at which shorthanded squad will prevail.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were dealt a blow on Thursday with the news of Karl-Anthony Towns requiring surgery for a torn meniscus, leaving his return uncertain. However, the Timberwolves aren't alone in facing injury challenges, as key players including Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, and Evan Mobley are also sidelined for the Cleveland Cavaliers' upcoming game on Friday. Despite those setbacks, both teams must continue to compete as the season progresses.

Minnesota is 7-3 across its last 10 outings, and the team is riding a two-game win streak into Friday’s tilt with Cleveland. The Timberwolves are clinging to a half-game lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder and a one-game advantage over the Denver Nuggets for the top seed in the West.

Meanwhile, Cleveland is just a half-game back of the Bucks for the No. 2 seed in the East. That makes Friday's head-to-head matchup very meaningful for the postseason push. Which shorthanded club will emerge victorious and improve its conference position?

To accompany our Bucks-Lakers NBA player props for Friday, here are our best Timberwolves vs. Cavaliers NBA player props and NBA picks (odds via our best NBA betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Timberwolves vs. Cavaliers props

Anthony Edwards Under 30.5 points (-115 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

How can we bet the Under on a guy who scored 44 points Thursday?

Edwards tweaked his ankle within the first 30 seconds of Thursday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers before returning to the contest and leading all scorers. He also hit his head on the backboard while making a game-sealing block at the end of regulation. It was a monster effort on both ends, but Edwards may be drained, despite his youth.

Ant Man has been averaging 26.4 points and hit the Over on this total only twice over nine games in 2023-24 with no rest.

Edwards’ stamina notwithstanding, he hasn’t needed to do as much as a scorer at home. The guard has scored at least 31 points only four times over his last 15 games at the Target Center.

He's hit the Under on his points total in 60% of Edwards' games in 2023-24. An implied probability of 60% should yield -150 odds, but we can get this prop at -115 through bet365, presenting a huge value.

Don’t forget that Cleveland allows the second-fewest points to opponents overall (109.5) and on the road (108), and the Cavs have also given up just 107.7 across their last three games.

Jarrett Allen Over 32.5 points + rebounds + assists (-113 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

No Mobley? No problem for Jarrett Allen. Allen is averaging 31.9 PRAs in 2023-24 during games played without Mobley compared to 27.4 in games with him. He posted 40 PRAs in Wednesday’s loss to the Hawks, delivering a huge double-double with Mobley out of action.

Allen has hit the Over on this prop in two straight contests, and we’re banking on a third. He's averaging 31.9 PRAs since the All-Star break while hitting the Over in four of nine matchups (one without Mobley).

The center is also averaging 31.2 PRAs with Mitchell out, and 37.5 with Strus out. All three players will be sidelined, opening up a monster opportunity for points, rebounds, and assists from one of the NBA’s premier big men. We would bet this one up to 34.5, but the 32.5 offering from FanDuel makes for a comfortable line without a lot of juice.

Kyle Anderson Over 1.5 steals + blocks (-110 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s Slow Mo’s time to shine with Towns sidelined indefinitely.

Anderson filled in admirably for Towns in 2022-23 while finishing with at least two steals + blocks in 27 of 45 games played with the big man sidelined, averaging 2.1 steals + blocks during that span. He finished the campaign with 38 such games in 69 appearances, hitting the mark in 11 of 24 outings with KAT on the court.

Cleveland allows the 15th-most blocks and 12th-most steals, meaning the team is mid pack in both defensive categories. Anderson hit the Over on this line in 60% of his games without Towns a season ago, so the price here should be closer to -150. Getting it at -110 implies a probability closer to 50%. That's a discount given Anderson’s track record on defense sans KAT.
