Let’s dive into my NBA player props today for Friday’s five-game slate.

For the second straight night, a San Antonio Spurs center leads my card. There is value in backing Luke Kornet on the second night of a back-to-back, as there is a chance that Victor Wembanyama rests.

Luke Kornet Over 7.5 points (+104) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Victor Wembanyama played 17 minutes last night, which is notable because it doesn’t count toward end-of-season honors unless a player logs 20 minutes. Given that Wembanyama had six games to spare after the NBA Cup Final, it’s fair to assume he and the Spurs care more about his health than accolades.

I suspect Wembanyama rests on the second night of a back-to-back. If so, Kornet’s scoring prop is too low after producing 24 points over his past two games.

I like the +104 price on Over 7.5 points at FanDuel, resulting in a $10.40 return on a $10 bet.

Tyrese Maxey Under 27.5 points (-117) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Coming off their NBA Cup title, the Knicks rested multiple players in last night’s narrow win over the Pacers. I expect nearly everyone to be available for tonight’s matchup.

More importantly, the 76ers might have Joel Embiid (questionable), Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey in this one. When all three are on the floor, Maxey’s usage goes down. He’s averaged 7.7 fewer points when playing with George and 3.5 fewer points with Embiid.

Basically, his season-long numbers don’t concern me. Give me Under 27.5 points at DraftKings when the rest of the best sports betting sites are at 26.5.

Darius Garland Under 25.5 points + rebounds (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cavaliers guard Darius Garland hasn’t been healthy all year. He’s averaging 15.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in 12 contests for an underwhelming Cleveland team.

A matchup against the Bulls appears to be soft on paper, but Garland finished with 15 points (on 16 shots), five rebounds, and six assists against them on Wednesday. I’m comfortable fading him in the same matchup, especially with this combo line.

Garland has only cleared 25.5 points + rebounds once this year. At -110, a $10 bet nets $9.09.

Ajay Mitchell Over 9.5 points (-110) ⭐⭐⭐

Oklahoma City guard Ajay Mitchell remains my favorite option in the NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds market. He proved his impact as a reserve last night, scoring 16 points on 15 field-goal attempts in 29 minutes against the Clippers.

The line for Mitchell’s scoring prop closed at 9.5 last night. But there is room for this total to grow if the Thunder decide to rest anyone on the second night of a back-to-back.

Mitchell has averaged 14.1 points per contest this year, clearing this prop in 21 of his 27 games. This scoring line is too low, given his production.
