A pair of underperforming teams clash in my Grizzlies vs. Mavericks player props at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, on NBA League Pass, at the American Airlines Center.

Dallas (5-12) is a 1.5-point favorite over Memphis (5-11), but I don’t know how you could trust either team. I’d rather dive into the prop market for Saturday’s battle.

⬆️ Cooper Flagg player prop: Over 3.5 assists (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Cooper Flagg is back to leading the Rookie of the Year odds after briefly relinquishing his throne to Kon Knueppel for a couple of days. He returned to the top of the board last night following his performance in the NBA Cup, in which he finished with 29 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Since the Mavs started playing an actual point guard in Brandon Williams and moved Flagg to his natural position, they have gotten better results from the No. 1 pick. Interestingly enough, that includes his passing.

Flagg has recorded at least four assists in five of his past seven games, averaging four dimes and a team-best 41.1 passes over that span. I’ll bet on that recent form, earning $9.09 on a $10 wager.

⬇️ Vince Williams Jr. player prop: Under 19.5 points + assists (-128) ⭐⭐⭐

The market has finally adjusted to Vince Williams Jr. The Memphis lead guard was featured on multiple NBA props columns this week, as I suggested backing his assist prop. It’s now trading at 6.5, up from 4.5 earlier this week.

As a result, I’m inclined to take an Under on Williams in this matchup. The Mavs rank fifth in the NBA in fewest assists allowed, so this could be a tougher matchup than usual. Rather than target his assist angle, however, I prefer the value on this combo line.

Williams only attempted seven shots last time out. He’s scored 18 total points in two games as the lead guard. This line is a touch too high, which is why the rest of our best sportsbooks have set it at 18.5.

⬇️ Dereck Lively II player prop: Under 5.5 rebounds (+112) ⭐⭐⭐

Dallas center Dereck Lively II is still getting his legs underneath him this season. He’s averaging 16.4 minutes per contest, turning that into an average of 4.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

Lively played 18 minutes last night, grabbing four boards. He’s only played more than 19 minutes in one game this season. Lively has collected more than 5.5 rebounds three times in seven contests.

Given Memphis has Zach Edey, I suspect Lively will continue to struggle on the glass. This plus-money price on the Under is simply too attractive, winning $11.20 on a $10 wager.
