Will the Golden State Valkyries keep shocking the WNBA tonight on the road against the Chicago Sky? My Valkyries vs. Sky predictions project Chicago to get trounced on its home court.

Tipoff from Wintrust Arena in Chicago is at 7:30 p.m. ET (ION). The visitors remain a long shot by the WNBA championship odds, but the Valkyries hold the upper hand tonight.

According to Norse mythology, Valkyries can fly through the air, so storming through the Windy City should be no problem for Golden State. Things have gone from bad to worse in Chi-town, with the Sky still down Angel Reese and on a 1-11 skid since mid-July.

The only team with a worse record than Chicago's (8-24) is the Connecticut Sun (6-26), but the Sky just lost by nine to them, so there's an argument that no team is worse than Tyler Marsh's this season. Given how atrocious Chicago has been as of late, I'm projecting a 78-70 win for Golden State as part of my Valkyries vs. Sky predictions.

This is a matchup of the best team in the WNBA against the spread, Golden State (20-12), and the worst ATS team, Chicago (13-19). The Sky have been a bad bet all year, but they've really outdone themselves lately with a 1-11 record ATS to perfectly match their recent win-loss record. If the Sky are playing, they're losing, and if they're losing, it's by a lot.

These two teams played to begin August, with a 73-66 win for Golden State, and this will likely be a similar outcome. The Valkyries' defense remains one of the best in the league, even after losing Kayla Thornton for the season. They're allowing the second-fewest points per game in the W (77.3), allowing the lowest field-goal percentage (40.7%), and the fewest made 2-pointers per game (17.8).

That spells trouble for a Sky offense that's got the second-lowest offensive rating (97.4) and predominantly leans on its inside scoring - Chicago takes the second-fewest 3-pointers per game (20.8). But don't worry, Golden State backers, the Sky's defense isn't any better than their offense. They have the second-lowest defensive rating in the league (111.0), and Veronica Burton, Janelle Salaun, and Tiffany Hayes should take advantage.
