Betting on the Sky to win a game at this point feels like betting on an SEC team to lose its annual FCS game - it's possible, and you could be right, but is it really worth it?
Chicago hasn't won since July 12, and during its eight-game losing streak, it's only managed to lose by fewer than double digits once. The Mystics even beat the Sky by 17 last week, a game in which Washington rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen combined for 50 points.

The Sky are starting to rival the Connecticut Sun for the title of worst team in the WNBA. Chicago is 2-10 since the beginning of July and owns the second-worst net rating (minus-13.6) and average point differential (minus-10.6) in the league. So while Washington is no world beater, it is a far more competent team led by a pair of All-Star rookies.
Behind Citron, Iriafen, and veteran Brittney Sykes, the Mystics are top five in points allowed per game (80.7), field-goal percentage allowed (43.1%), and 3-point percentage allowed (31.1%). This defense has proven to be a difficult matchup for the Sky already, too; they're 0-3 against the Mystics and averaging 79 points per game in those matchups.
With an offense that owns the second-lowest rating in the league (98.0) and a defense that's just as bad (second-worst rating, 111.6), the Sky aren't going to be able to keep up with Washington. The Mystics have four reliable scorers who can expose a defense that's allowing opponents to shoot 44.9% from the floor and 36.8% from three.

Paige Bueckers' rookie campaign has somewhat overshadowed the impressive rookie duo in Washington, but Citron seems to finally be getting her due after several splashy outings.
Last week against the Sky, she put up a career-high 28 points and followed that up with back-to-back 16-point performances. She's cleared 13.5 points in three straight games.
The Notre Dame product is poised for another high-scoring performance against Chicago, with her 3-point shooting being key. The Sky allow the most made 3-pointers per game in the league (9.9), and Citron leads the Mystics in made 3-pointers per game (1.6) - she went 5-for-6 from behind the arc last week against Chicago.
