The defending champion New York Liberty is battered and bruised heading into the playoffs. However, I’m still banking on their championship pedigree rising to the occasion with my Mystics vs. Liberty prediction.

I expect New York to play well at home, as it has all season long, against a young Washington squad that struggles on the road. The Liberty are the 12-point betting favorite, and tonight's tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. (local TV).

The Liberty have been a completely different unit playing at Barclays Center this season, with a 16-5 record at home, compared to 9-12 on the road.

New York picked up a comfortable 89-63 victory in its lone meeting with the Mystics on home court in 2025. Washington, meanwhile, is 6-15 on the road.

The Mystics sit ninth of the 13 WNBA teams in defensive rating. That should suit New York’s offense, which ranks among the top five in the league despite the various injuries coach Sandy Brondello has been hit with throughout the season.

A $10 bet on the Liberty to cover the spread at home would provide a $9.09 profit. The -110 odds from Caesars, one of the best sports betting sites, carry an implied probability of 52.38%.

Iriafen has been a consistent bright spot for the Mystics in what’s been a pleasantly surprising campaign for the franchise. She’s averaging 15 points per game in three meetings with the Liberty.

Iriafen sits fourth in the league with 113 offensive rebounds, which should give her a few second-chance opportunities against a Liberty defense that permits the most second-chance points (12.2 per game).

Iriafen has gone over this total for points in nine of her last 13 games, including a 16-point effort against New York in late August. A $10 wager on Iriafen’s Over at FanDuel would profit $7.81. The -128 odds have an implied probability of 56.14%.
