If both teams were at full strength, this would profile as a closer contest with Team Clark possibly even earning the respect of the best sports betting apps as the outright favorite. But that simply isn't the case.

Clark, the captain for the "host" team in Indy, reaggravated a groin injury earlier this week and won't play on Saturday. Neither will All-Star teammate Satou Sabally, while only Rhyne Howard has been scratched for Team Collier - which features a loaded roster led by the prohibitive WNBA MVP favorite in Napheesa Collier.

While A'ja Wilson is a worthy top star for Team Clark, I'm drawn to the opposite frontcourt with Collier and Breanna Stewart - and sophomore Angel Reese, who seems hungry to make her mark in this game - flexing their scoring bona fides and experience in this All-Star setting.

Keep an eye on rookie Paige Bueckers, too. She could be a spark plug in the second half to swing the balance of this matchup, much like the role that Dallas Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale played for Team WNBA in last year's All-Star win.

That was the only time in the history of this contest that the final score has reached 260 total points. Let me repeat that another way: the All-Star Game has fallen below this total in 19 of 20 contests.

Last year's game finished with 226 total points, and that was with Clark (10 points) playing 26 minutes in her All-Star debut. Instead of betting on the highest scoring exhibition in league history, I'll take the Under on this lofty total at FanDuel, which is two points higher than the total offered at DraftKings.

This year's No. 1 pick has been a savant with the basketball in her rookie campaign, ranking eighth in scoring (18.7 PPG) and assists (5.5 APG) even while ranking outside the top 25 in usage rate. Translation: she makes her possessions count, which is paramount to cashing bets in this star-studded showcase.

I'd be surprised if she plays fewer than 20 minutes - eight players hit that mark last year, including Clark as the top pick, and three of those players had at least five assists. That's why I'm taking a shot at these generous +136 odds, which would turn a winning $10 wager into a $13.60 profit.
