Memorial Day Weekend 2025 Racing Guide: Monaco Grand Prix, Indy 500 & Coca-Cola 600

The Monaco Grand Prix, Indy 500, and Coca-Cola 600 all fall on Sunday, highlighting a glorious weekend to be a racing fan.

While Memorial Day is the official holiday recognized this weekend, festivities begin for racing fans one day early. Our Memorial Day Weekend Racing guide breaks down how spectators should bet on the high-speed excitement during one of the most highly anticipated days in racing.

Sunday is a treasure of a day in auto racing, and one that features two-thirds of the Triple Crown of Motorsport.

๐Ÿ’กWhat is the Triple Crown of Motorsport?

The Triple Crown of Motorsport consists of three races: the Monaco Grand Prix, the Indy 500, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Two of those three races will take place on the same day again this year, with the Coca-Cola 600 rounding it out for a marathon Sunday of fast cars.

It begins when Formula 1 fans in North America can roll out of bed to catch one of the most prestigious races worldwide: the Monaco Grand Prix. The Formula 1 cars will be flying through the streets of Monte Carlo - with the likes of Lando Norris and Max Verstappen leading the way - while navigating the famously tight quarters.

That rolls right into the Indy 500, which starts at 12:45 p.m. ET. Josef Newgarden returns as the two-time defending champion, but he'll face tough challenges from Pato O'Ward and Alex Palou, the top two favorites by the odds.

The day concludes in the evening with the Coca-Cola 600 at 6 p.m. ET. NASCAR's longest race is a test of endurance for both the drivers and the teams trying to get the cars across the finish line. The race is also unique because the track conditions change so much during the transition from day to night. Christopher Bell enters as the defending winner, though Kyle Larson is the favorite by the odds.

Let's dive into the odds for who will win each event and the best bets from our experts.

Here's what our Gary Pearson is expecting this weekend in his Monaco Grand Prix predictions:

Norris enjoyed a resurgent grand prix at Imola, finishing second after qualifying in fourth. He now has four second-place finishes in seven races, winning once while finishing off the podium once. He has looked better in recent races, beating Piastri last week for the first time since Japan, the season's third race.

Norris finished fourth at Circuit de Monaco last year, his second-best finish in Monte Carlo. He came third in 2021, his best result at the storied street race.

I'm not as confident in Norris winning this race for one primary reason. He can't rely on his high-performing car bailing him out on the circuit's slowest street race.

That said, his experience and skill set give him a good chance to win for the first time at the opulent event.

๐ŸŽ๏ธ Indy 500 best bet

Check out what Isaiah Sirois had to say in his Indy 500 predictions:

Team Penske has sold out to dominate on ovals in the IndyCar series. Last year, the team won the Indianapolis 500 with Newgarden and won four of the six other oval races. In 2023, Newgarden also won at Indy, and Team Penske won three of the five other oval races.

While the inspection failure (and subsequent modifications to be compliant) and poor starting position are red flags, they might just be a blessing in disguise: We can get Newgarden at +1000 via FanDuel, which is a much better price than the +700 available back in February.

Further, we saw Newgarden and his No. 2 Chevrolet back in action on Carb Day, and, well, we didnโ€™t see a fall-off in speed for this team. Newgarden led final practice with Penske teammate Will Power not far behind in fifth. The Indy 500 is still Penskeโ€™s race to lose - itโ€™ll just be trickier this year.

Here's what our Isaiah Sirois is expecting this weekend in his Coca-Cola 600 predictions:

Yes, no driver has won the Indianapolis 500 or Coke 600 while attempting both. I think that streak will change this year: Larsonโ€™s dominance at high-speed intermediates is simply too much to ignore.

If youโ€™re not betting on Larson at these tracks, youโ€™re either fading him in hopes of late-race chaos or backing his teammates in hopes that one of them gets the best Hendrick Motorsports car that weekend. We used both strategies at Texas and Kansas to no avail, but we at least cashed four plus-money props to soften the blow.

I largely recommended fading Larson that weekend because his odds of +375 were far too short, opening up value down the board. With DraftKings listing Larson at +600 for this weekend, I donโ€™t feel the need to pivot from the No. 5 car. There is value at that price.

While Larson hasn't won every high-speed intermediate this year, he led the most laps in each event. He won from the pole at Kansas, finished ninth at Las Vegas, and fourth at Texas, and he recorded the fastest average green-flag speed in all three as well. His +600 odds - which implies just a 14.3% chance of him winning Sunday's race - are still too long.
