💰 Hungarian Grand Prix predictions, expert picks & best bets to win
Here are my best Hungarian Grand Prix predictions for Sunday's race at Hungaroring based on the latest odds from the best sports betting apps.
Editor's note: Picks were made Monday, July 28. Refer to above table for updated odds.
🏆 Pick to win Hungarian Grand Prix: Oscar Piastri ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Piastri not only came through at the Belgian Grand Prix to break his three-race winless streak, but he also punched another winning ticket for yours truly.
I'm doubling down on the Australian in Hungary for a few key reasons.
After winning at the Hungaroring last year, he returns to the site of his first Formula One victory brimming with confidence.
The momentum he gained from his impressive, almost flawless race at Spa last week should provide the mindset he requires to hold off his ever-lurking teammate and the rest of the field.
When he's at his peak, Piastri has been the elite driver this season. He only has himself to blame when he loses, often the victim of self-inflicted blunders. Excluding those avoidable mistakes, Piastri is the master of his domain, flourishing in a symbiotic relationship with the MCL39, the undisputed best car on the circuit.
bet365 offers the longest odds, albeit marginally, of the best sports betting apps.
💎 Best value bet to win Hungarian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen ⭐⭐⭐⭐
📊 Best odds: +600 via DraftKings ($10 to win $60)
🔢 Implied probability: 14.29%

Make it zero wins in the last six races for the four-time defending champion. His fourth-place finish, however, was more due to an unfortunate set of circumstances, as well as his team putting too many eggs in one basket.
Following his imperious display in the Sprint, in which he finished first, Red Bull overcompensated and heaped on the downforce in anticipation of a wet race.
Unfortunately, the 80-minute rain delay proved costly as he conceded any straight-line advantage from the onset after a rolling start was implemented.
The silver lining is that Verstappen won the Sprint, finishing on the podium for the first time in an event since May.
Additionally, the Hungaroring is perceived as Monaco without walls due to its few passing opportunities. If the Dutchman can secure pole position, he has an excellent opportunity to win for the first time in seven races.
🎯 Best long shot to win Hungarian Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton ⭐⭐⭐

📊 Best odds: +1800 via DraftKings
🔢 Implied probability: 5.26%

By now, you know that any long-shot pick is futile. Even Hamilton at +1800 is a wager with minimal upside. The Ferrari driver endured a nightmare Belgian Grand Prix, inspiring about as much confidence as Verstappen has in the rest of his team.
However, Hamilton showed some promising signs at Spa, moving up from his pit-lane starting spot to secure seventh place. While Hamilton won't remember it as a career highlight, or at all for that matter, at least he showed some fightback in a difficult spot.
The other reason to hope and pray for a miracle is his eight wins in Hungary, the most of any driver. He hasn't won in Budapest since 2020, though.
Of our best sportsbooks, DraftKings offers the best price.
