The Indiana Fever visit the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena on Tuesday, and we have you covered for the WNBA opener with our best Fever vs. Sun predictions based on the WNBA odds as Caitlin Clark makes her WNBA debut.

Caitlin Clark, fresh off leading the Iowa Hawkeyes to their second consecutive national title game, is poised to make her official WNBA debut on Tuesday. Her Indiana Fever will face off against the Connecticut Sun, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2, live from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

The Sun enter the game as 5.5-point favorites at our best sports betting sites, riding the momentum of their seventh consecutive playoff appearance in 2023, the longest streak in the league. As the 2024 season begins, they hold the third-best 2024 WNBA championship odds.

Meanwhile, Indiana's postseason drought stretches back to 2016, but there's optimism that Clark's arrival, a top contender according to preseason WNBA MVP odds, can breathe new life into the franchise. Clark's presence has generated significant buzz, with Tuesday's game in Connecticut selling out well in advance. Explore the Caitlin Clark odds for tonight's matchup here.

Fever vs. Sun predictions for Tuesday

Sun -5.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

There is an extraordinary level of excitement and hype around this Fever team, and deservedly so with Clark and Aliyah Boston - the last two No. 1 picks - leading the way. But this group still has distance to clear before joining the ranks of the WNBA elite.

The Sun are already in that tier after finishing third in record (27-13) and net rating (+4.7) behind only the two "superteams" in New York and Las Vegas. Stephanie White's group returns the star trio of DeWanna Bonner, Alyssa Thomas, and Brionna Jones, all of whom are healthy ahead of this 2024 opener.

There's simply too much talent, depth, and experience on Connecticut's side to get distracted by the marquee names for the Fever. It helps that FanDuel is offering these market-best odds of -106, which represent an implied probability of 51.46% with a profit of $9.43 on a $10 wager, per our odds converter.

Over 169.5 points ⭐⭐⭐

While I don't love the Fever's chances of winning Tuesday, there's no doubt this team features some elite offensive upside with Clark joining Kelsey Mitchell (18.2 PPG), NaLyssa Smith (15.5), and Boston (14.5) - all of whom ranked in the top 30 in scoring in 2023.

The Sun boasted three top-30 scorers of their own in Bonner (17.4), Jones (15.9), and Thomas (15.5), who helped Connecticut post the WNBA's fourth-best offensive rating (105.4). They should have a field day against Indiana, which ranked 11th out of 12 teams in defensive rating (108.1) in 2023 and is light on defensive-minded starters outside of Boston.

With three of our five best sportsbooks offering a total of 170.5, BetMGM is the best spot to find value on the Over, with these -110 odds representing an implied probability of 52.38% with a $9.09 profit on a $10 bet.

Caitlin Clark Under 33.5 points + rebounds + assists ⭐⭐⭐

While Clark may someday become the WNBA's greatest of all time, I'm skeptical that she'll find immediate success in her official pro debut.

The former Iowa star stuffed the stat sheet in college, but she averaged just 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in the preseason, falling well short of this total in both games despite solid playing time. The intensity will only pick up in the regular season, which could lead to a "welcome to the W" moment for the 6-foot guard.

This total is as low as 31.5 at FanDuel, while these -115 odds imply a 53.49% hit rate with an $8.70 profit on a $10 wager. It may not be fun to fade the No. 1 pick in her official debut, but it should be profitable.
