🏈 Alouettes vs. Tiger-Cats preview & score prediction

The Alouettes are 12-0 in Alexander's career starts and will be looking for revenge on Saturday after losing to the Tiger-Cats 26-9 - Hamilton covered as a 3-point favorite - in Montreal on Sept. 6.

The Tiger-Cats’ offense was inconsistent to close out the regular season, as Hamilton scored 20 or fewer points in two of its final four games, which makes me lean toward the Under on Saturday. However, my best play for this year’s East final is to back Alexander’s historic run and bet the Alouettes -3 (-102).

Davis Alexander a rightful betting favorite

Despite the Tiger-Cats claiming the division title in the regular season, the Alouettes were a 1.5-point betting favorite on Monday and have been bet all the way up to a 3-point favorite at the best sports betting sites. Why are the Alouettes a 3-point road favorite in the East final? The answer is simple: Alexander does not lose.

The Alouettes are 4-0 against the spread in Alexander's starts - all as the betting favorite - since he returned from a hamstring injury on Sept. 26, winning by an average margin of 14.5 points per game.

While Bo Levi Mitchell and the Tiger-Cats won and covered both regular-season meetings between these teams, Alexander didn't play in either, and Montreal was instead led by backup quarterbacks McLeod Bethel-Thompson (June 27) and James Morgan (Sept. 6). Hamilton will be facing a much stronger version of the Alouettes on Saturday and should struggle to stay within three points.

DraftKings has the best odds available at time of publish. These -102 odds to bet Alouettes -3 feature an implied probability of 50.5%, and a winning $10 bet would profit $9.80.

Score prediction: Alouettes 30, Tiger-Cats 19

🆚 Alouettes vs. Tiger-Cats matchup to watch

Davis Alexander vs. Tiger-Cats secondary

Alexander torched the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' pass defense in the East semifinal, completing 24 of 34 passes for 384 yards with one touchdown and one interception. However, Saturday's game should look very different for the Alouettes quarterback.

Hamilton's secondary was solid to end the regular season, allowing 280 or fewer passing yards in five of its final seven games, including holding Vernon Adams Jr. to 257 yards and Cody Fajardo to 280.

With most of the best sports betting apps offering Davis' passing yards total at 284.5, grab the value on the Under 290.5 (-115) at DraftKings. A winning $10 bet would profit $8.70 with an implied probability of 53.49%.

Best prop bet: Davis Alexander Under 290.5 passing yards (-115 via DraftKings)
