Can the Toronto Argonauts continue slaying the giants of the CFL? They beat the Montreal Alouettes two weeks ago and the last time the Winnipeg Blue Bombers lost it was at the hands of the Argos.

  • Riding an eight game winning streak, we expect Winnipeg to get revenge against Toronto in our Argonauts vs. Blue Bombers prediction
  • After a slow start to the season, Winnipeg leads the Grey Cup odds in the West
  • The Blue Bombers are 4.5-point favorites at our best sportsbooks in Canada for Friday's 8:30 p.m. ET (TSN/RDS, CFL+) kick at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

With just three weeks left in the season, a Toronto win would clinch a playoff berth for the Argos, but a Bombers victory gives them the West Division title.

Blue Bombers -4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Will the Blue Bombers ever lose again? After a 2-6 start to the season, Winnipeg has won eight straight and is one dub away from locking up the best record in the West.

And while the Argos are the last team to beat the Bombers - and took down the Alouettes the last time they were on the field - Toronto is far too inconsistent to stop Mike O'Shea's well-oiled machine.

Toronto's defense has given up over 30 points in four of its last five games with opponents averaging 30.6 points per game over that stretch. The Argos are also allowing the second-highest QB rating in the CFL (103.4).

With Zach Collaros looking like the guy who was a CFL Most Outstanding Player odds contender at the beginning of the year again, Toronto's defense is in trouble. Especially with Brady Oliveira leading the league in rushing (1,254 yards).

Defense wins championships

What's really been the difference for the Bombers this season is their dominant defense.

They allow the fewest yards per game (338.9) and points per game (20.3), and the second-lowest QB rating (88.0). With Chad Kelly being a wildcard since his return from suspension - six TDs to eight INTs - Winnipeg should be able to fluster him into poor decisions.

If the Bombers cover the spread for the sixth straight game, a $10 bet pays a $9.01 profit.
