Even after two-time Grey Cup champ Cody Fajardo nearly led a comeback last week against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Elks fell short. This is hands down the worst team in the CFL, and at 1-5 with massive issues on defense, it doesn't look like they'll be positioned to upset the Tiger-Cats, who lead the East Division. Mitchell is the CFL Most Outstanding Player odds favorite and should have no issues hitting big plays in Edmonton. My Tiger-Cats vs. Elks prediction has Hamilton winning this 34-27.

Hamilton is 4-2 betting the Over this season when its game total is set at 55.5 or lower. That has as much to do with its defense as it does with its explosive offense. The Tiger-Cats may lead the East, but their defense remains an issue, having given up 28-plus points in four games this season and allowing the fourth-most points per game (27).

The Elks may be about as effective as Mitch Marner in the playoffs, but they do have enough offensive talent to push the Tiger-Cats enough to hit this Over. Fajardo threw for 346 yards and two scores last week while completing 78.8% of his passes, and has several solid playmakers to lean on in Steven Dunbar, Kurleigh Gittens Jr., and Justin Rankin.

Luckily, the Tiger-Cats' offense is no stranger to having to carry their defense. Mitchell has Hamilton leading the league in points per game (32.1) and passing yards per game (309.4). Mitchell, Kenny Lawler, and Tim White should have no issues lighting up an Elks defense that's allowing the most points per game (31.8) and yards per game (426).

Keep an eye on the weather for this game, though, with potential for thunderstorms in the late afternoon possibly impacting the Tiger-Cats vs. Elks odds.

Although Lawler leads the CFL in receiving yards per game this season (96.1), it's White who has been the more consistent target as of late for Mitchell. The three-time CFL All-Star is averaging 78.3 receiving yards per game over his last three outings, while Lawler is at 63.3 receiving yards per game during that stretch.

Both should have huge outings against the Elks' non-existent secondary - Edmonton allows the most passing yards per game (316.2) - but White is the better play with Lawler's receiving yards line set at 84.5.
