The New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers look to inch closer to securing playoff spots. Read on for our Yankees-Brewers MLB picks.

The series between the New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers is the only interleague matchup this weekend. And Saturday’s meeting is also one of just two games between two teams with at least 77 wins.

Here are my MLB picks and predictions for Saturday’s game between the Yankees and Brewers (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Yankees vs. Brewers Odds Analysis

The Yankees are underdogs at most sportsbooks, with DraftKings giving them the most respect at -110 odds and making the game a virtual pick’em. New York has drawn 81% of the tickets and 86% of the cash.

DraftKings is the only sportsbook offering a total of 7.0, as all others are at 7.5 runs with varying levels of juice. As of early Saturday morning, the Over had attracted 67% of the bets and 85% of the cash.

Yankees vs. Brewers Projected Pitchers

Jameson Taillon (13-4, 3.94 ERA, 1.13 WHIP) vs. Brandon Woodruff (10-4, 3.39 ERA, 1.12 WHIP)

Jameson Taillon has pitched to a 4.59 ERA or higher in three consecutive months but currently has a 3.65 ERA through two September starts. Taillon has made two interleague starts this year, going 1-1 and allowing eight earned runs in 10.1 combined innings against the Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates.

Brandon Woodruff finished fifth in the Cy Young voting last year, and while he is not likely to be as recognized in this year’s voting, his K/9, BB/9, and H/9 rates are all comparable to last year. Woodruff snapped a seven-start streak without a win in his previous start after allowing two earned runs in six innings and striking out 11 in a victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

Yankees vs. Brewers Pick

Brewers ML (-110)

Taillon has allowed three or fewer earned runs in each of his last seven starts. However, he will need to be even sharper when facing Woodruff, who has allowed two or fewer earned runs in 14 of his previous 17. Taillon is prone to giving up the long ball, as his nine home runs allowed since the All-Star break rank fourth-most in the American League. If the Brewers capitalize on that flaw, it could be all the run support Woodruff needs.

Milwaukee is 7-0 in its last seven home games against American League opponents. Meanwhile, the Yankees have lost their last six interleague road games against teams above .500.

The Brewers have seen the St. Louis Cardinals whiz by them over the previous six weeks, as Milwaukee is 20-20 since last holding sole possession of first place in the NL Central on Aug. 3. However, Milwaukee has won six of eight and, with one of its two best pitchers on the mound, should triumph again.

Yankees vs. Brewers O/U Pick

Under 7.5 runs (-112)

Woodruff has a better xERA (3.26) than actual ERA, and his 3.23 FIP is well above league average. Though his walk rate (7.1%) is on pace to be his worst since 2018, he makes up for it with a fourth straight season of a strikeout rate of 29% or better.

Woodruff ranks in the 74th percentile or better in xBA, K%, and whiff%. In addition, his ability to keep the ball in the yard with no home runs allowed in his last 12 home innings and four of his previous six home starts will go a long way in suppressing a Yankees offense that leads the league with 225 home runs.

Yankees vs. Brewers Prop Pick

Adames Over 0.5 RBI (+160)

Since we are backing the Brewers to win, getting involved with a player prop on their hottest hitter of late makes sense.

Willy Adames has recorded at least two RBIs in four of the team’s last five games and has a seven-game active hitting streak. With players like Christian Yelich getting on-base frequently ahead of him (.417 OBP over the previous seven days), Adames should have plenty of opportunities to drive in runs.
