After outlasting the Blue Jays in a Game 7 classic to win the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers opened as the betting favorites by the 2026 World Series odds to repeat as world champions next season.

The Dodgers, who became the first back-to-back MLB champions since the New York Yankees (1998-2000), will attempt to match those Bronx Bombers as one of only three teams to ever win three straight. They open with +350 odds to win again next season, which implies just over a 20% chance they make history in 2026.

Fittingly, the Yankees sit just behind the defending champions with the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, and Seattle Mariners rounding out the top five.

🏆 2026 World Series betting favorites

Los Angeles Dodgers (+350)

It shouldn't surprise anyone to see the Dodgers open as the World Series favorites after taking home two straight titles since signing Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in December 2023. Ohtani started Game 7 on the mound while batting .333 from the plate, while Yamomoto won Games 2 and 6 as a starter while closing out Game 7, too.

With those two joining former MVP winners Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts for the reunion tour in 2026, there's no team that profiles as a more likely champion. It's always tough to repeat - we hadn't seen anyone do it in 25 years until this season - but the Dodgers are built to win titles and should be in the mix next October.

New York Yankees (+800)

The Yankees battled injuries and bad luck in 2025, but any team with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto is bound to be among the favorites entering the year. Those two join star pitcher Gerrit Cole, who should be back sometime in the 2026 season, while youngster Cam Schlittler looks like a rising star on the mound. Don't count out the Bronx Bombers.

Philadelphia Phillies (+1200)

The Phillies have been knocking on the door for years, and they still won the second-most games in the NL last season - falling one win shy of the MLB-leading Milwaukee Brewers (97-65) - before falling to the eventual champion Dodgers in the Wild Card Series. If Bryce Harper bounces back and Philadelphia can re-sign Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto, this club has a chance to finally break through in 2026.

Seattle Mariners (+1300)

The Mariners came one mammoth swing from George Springer away from beating the Blue Jays in the ALCS and reaching the World Series for the first time in franchise history. Cal Raleigh likely won't hit 60 homers next season, but he'll join Julio Rodriguez and a star-studded pitching staff for a hungry roster that could add some fresh faces this offseason if owner John Stanton finally invests in free agency for a World Series run.

Houston Astros (+1400)

No matter who takes the field for the Astros, it seems like they always find a way to stay in the race until the very end. Houston surprisingly missed the playoffs last season despite winning 87 games, snapping a eight-year postseason run that included four World Series appearances and two titles. With Carlos Correa back in Houston and a healthier Yordan Alvarez next year, don't be surprised to see the 'Stros back in the hunt.

👀 2026 World Series sleepers

Toronto Blue Jays (+1800)

The Blue Jays came literal inches away from winning their first World Series since 1993, and they'll bring back many of the key pieces that helped them claim the AL this year - none more important than Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who will enter 2026 as one of the hottest hitters in baseball. It'll be tough to replicate the effectiveness of this lineup, especially if Bo Bichette signs elsewhere, but Toronto may have a new ace in Trey Yesavage to lean on.

Atlanta Braves (+2000)

Just about everything went wrong for the Braves in 2025, but this is still one of the most talented rosters in baseball led by former MVP winner Ronald Acuna Jr. and two of the game's best arms (when healthy) in Chris Sale and Spencer Strider. I'd be reticent to write the obituary for Atlanta just yet, and this might be the only time we catch a price as juicy as this one for the 2026 season.

💰 Early 2026 World Series prediction

Dodgers to win the World Series (+350)

Sure, this isn't exactly going out on a limb. But the Dodgers nearly went wire-to-wire as betting favorites in the 2025 season and outlasted one of the best hitting teams we've ever seen to win their second straight championship - even with Ohtani not having his best stuff on short rest as the Game 7 starter and Mookie Betts having one of his worst postseason series ever.

If Los Angeles makes it back to the postseason next year, I'd expect better performances from the Dodgers' biggest stars, and a healthier bullpen could make this team virtually invincible once October rolls around. Don't forget that L.A. won it all this year as a wild-card team; if it earns a bye next year, it could be game over.
