The New York Yankees avoided the sweep on Tuesday, blowing out the Los Angeles Dodgers in a game that was tightly contested for seven innings. They'll look to continue to mount an epic comeback in Game 5, hoping their next flight is back to L.A. and not Cancun.

It's a battle of the aces on Wednesday night in Game 5, as Gerrit Cole will take the ball when first pitch is thrown at 8:08 p.m. ET (FOX) from Yankee Stadium.

Cole went six brilliant innings in Game 1, allowing only four hits and one earned run, just to see the bullpen blow it.

Starting for the Dodgers will be Jack Flaherty, who went only 5 1/3 in Game 1 but did enough to keep Los Angeles in the game. He allowed only two earned runs despite giving up five hits and walking one.

A number of Yankees players bounced back at the plate on Tuesday, with the key contributors being Anthony Volpe and Austin Wells.

Our Dodgers vs. Yankees prediction looks at whether New York can continue to get production from the bottom of its lineup and force this series back to Los Angeles, or if the massive World Series odds favorites will shut the door and head back home joined by the Commissioner's Trophy.

Who will win Dodgers vs. Yankees?

Dodgers to win ⭐⭐⭐

Hopefully, Yankee fans enjoyed that Game 4 victory - except for the two who assaulted Mookie Betts - because it's all they're getting from this series.

I wrote yesterday that the bullpen game didn't look promising for the Dodgers after using their relievers for a significant number of innings in this series.

That usage reared its head, as the Dodgers went with Daniel Hudson following opener Ben Casparius. The oft-injured Hudson was solid during the regular season, but he did have a bit of a home run problem, allowing 1.43 long balls per nine innings. Lo and behold, Volpe took him yard for a game-changing grand slam in the third inning.

However, with the Dodgers turning to their ace on Wednesday, I'm backing the series favorites.

Flaherty may not outpitch Cole, but much like he did in the first contest, he'll do enough to keep the Dodgers in the game before they get to the Yankees' bullpen.

With their season on the line, the Yankees turned to nearly all of their top relievers on Wednesday, while the Dodgers saved theirs. At some point, fatigue will set in, especially for pitchers who get amped up to throw their absolute best stuff for one inning.

Additionally, contrary to Tuesday, we haven't seen sharp money back the Yankees in any significant way. At Pinnacle, which features one of the most respected trading teams in the sports betting industry, New York has moved from -146 to -144 since late last night.

I liked Cole's strikeout Over in Game 1, but he managed only four despite pitching six innings. That's the type of loss I'm fine with: the process was good - we were getting positive expected value based on the projection and price - and the result was mostly what we hoped for (to "explain it in NBA terms," he managed only 12 points despite taking 14 shots).

So, I'm going back to the well. We're once again getting +EV based on Cole's strikeout projection of 5.93 and these +138 odds at FanDuel. To be exact, this bet is showing roughly 29% +EV.

Cole certainly isn't the strikeout artist he once was, but with his team's season on the line in potentially his final start of the campaign (unless he makes a relief appearance should this go to Game 7), I expect adrenaline to help crank his stuff up a couple of notches early in the contest.

Bonus bet: Freddie Freeman to hit a home run (+500 via DraftKings)

Of course, we couldn't complete today's article without talking about the overwhelming World Series MVP odds favorite.

Freddie Freeman blasted another home run on Tuesday for the fourth straight game this series and an absurd sixth World Series game in a row. We explored more of his home run markets with our Freddie Freeman prop bets and odds.

I don't have any numbers for this; I'm simply backing him because, well, why not?

I wouldn't advise putting an entire unit on this bet, as even a $2 wager would result in $10 in profit thanks to these +500 odds, which you can get at both DraftKings and BetMGM.

If you missed the boat on Freeman's World Series MVP odds, this is a fun way to get involved in his history-making performance.

Game 5 odds movement

Our best sports betting sites have shortened the Yankees' moneyline odds slightly from an opening number of around -130 to -140, but the movement hasn't been as dramatic as it was on Tuesday. That's interesting because the Yankees will send their ace to the mound and are coming off a convincing victory, so it shows the value of the Dodgers going with Flaherty vs. a bullpen game.

Meanwhile, the total has jumped a half-run at all of our best sports betting apps, so you'll no longer get the benefit of a push if only eight runs are scored in this game.
