I know, -9.5 is a massive spread to cover, but I view this game very similarly to the one between Japan and Chinese Taipei this morning.

I expect Team USA to mercy Brazil, likely in seven innings via a 12 or 13-run margin. I also don't see Brazil scoring many runs, which is why I went with the Under 14.5, but this is my more confident play.

If you want, you can take the -10 alt run line at DraftKings for +104 odds. The only difference is a 10-run win will result in a push rather than a win.

Roman Anthony 2+ hits (+130)

There are a number of sites that project Ernie Clement to start in left field over Roman Anthony. That would be ridiculous.

Anthony looked like a 10-year veteran at the plate during his rookie season, combining an incredible plate approach with plenty of power to all parts of the field. Clement can't hit. His value is in his glove, and he's not even an outfielder by trade. And also, who cares about defense against Brazil in the WBC opener?

I expect Anthony to start this one for Team USA, and he will join the hit parade in Houston. The reason why I like him to record two-plus hits more than some of his more established teammates is because I think he's less likely to be pulled during a blowout than the likes of Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh, or Bryce Harper.

Bobby Witt Jr. isn't exactly known for his home-run hitting prowess, but that's party due to the fact that he plays his home games in what was formerly a cavernous Kauffman Stadium (they've made it more hitter-friendly this offseason 👀). 

Witt hit 23 homers last year, but he absolutely crushes the baseball. Additionally, if he hit the ball the way he did in 2025 while exclusively playing in Houston's Daikin Park, his home run total would have increased by three to 26. This is my pick to win WBC MVP, and I think he gets off to a hot start tonight.

⚖️ How I'm betting USA vs. Brazil

As part of my WBC bankroll management, I'm limiting myself to a combined one unit on the two player props, and betting only three units overall on this game. I did this for the Nicaragua vs. Dominican Republic game, too.

I'm increasing my wager limit from two units to three for the game for the same reason as I did there. We know who these American players are. They are the best in baseball and should perform as expected. If I was to cut any of the bets listed above, it'd be the Under on the total. But I still think that's a solid play.
