Rays vs. Yankees Prediction, Odds & Best Bets: Can Fried Stop the Bleeding for New York?

Last Updated: July 29, 2025 4:48 PM EDT • 4 minute read X Social Google News Link

The Tampa Bay Rays have given the New York Yankees fits all season, winning the last three games in a row, and our Rays vs. Yankees prediction expects more of the same tonight despite Cy Young odds contender Max Fried taking the mound for the home favorites.
We correctly picked the winner of last night's game with our Rays vs. Yankees best bets but whiffed on the player prop, so let's lock in for this one, which gets underway at 7:05 p.m. ET (TBS) from Yankee Stadium.
- Rays vs. Yankees prediction: Rays to win (+165 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐
- Best Rays vs. Yankees player props: Junior Caminero Over 1.5 total bases (+155 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

For as good as Fried's numbers are for the season, he hasn't been especially sharp lately. He owns a brutal 6.52 ERA across his last four starts, and he's struck out only 12 batters in those 19 1/3 innings. Those who looked under the hood knew that regression was coming for Fried when his ERA was below 2.00, and that's certainly the case.
Meanwhile, Joe Boyle heads to the mound for the visitors, and though he wasn't especially good for the Athletics, this is a Tampa Bay organization that somehow manages to squeeze just a little bit of extra juice from all of its pitchers.
That's been the case for Boyle through his first 19 innings, as he's managed an ERA below 1.50 and is suddenly no longer plagued by the brutal walk issues he faced in Oakland.
In the end, I just don't think the Yankees are very good without Aaron Judge. If I'm a starting pitcher, I'm attacking that lineup without much fear. I imagine Boyle and the Rays' bullpen will do just that tonight.
💰 Best Rays vs. Yankees player props
✅ Best Rays vs. Yankees player prop: Junior Caminero Over 1.5 total bases (+155 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Caminero has been an absolute beast during his first full season in the majors. He's well on his way to eclipsing 30 home runs, and he could even make a push for 40 with a strong final stretch.
It's a shame the Rays' bottom half of the lineup is, well, pretty stinky, because the top half of Caminero, Yandy Diaz, Jonathan Aranda, and Brandon Lowe (who's set to return from an injury tomorrow) has been spectacular. Caminero leads that group in extra-base hits, and I think he could add to that tally tonight.
The best part about this bet, though, is certainly the price. It's rare you're able to get these long odds on a star player to go Over 1.5 bases, so when you do, you need to pounce.
Also, I bet on Boyle to go Under his strikeout total this morning at +120 odds. That price is long gone, but if you don't mind paying a bit in juice, that still profiles as a decent Rays vs. Yankees player prop, too.
