The Rays are fresh off allowing just one run during a series sweep of the Kansas City Royals, and they beat the World Series odds contending Detroit Tigers in their previous series.

Now a slugger who's been key to Tampa's offensive fireworks gets an ideal matchup to keep rolling against the Orioles and their woeful pitching staff that sits 27th in ERA.

Diaz has been inferno hot throughout June while boasting a 1.093 OPS during the month, towering over his .694 in April and March, and .685 during May.

There are always fears about the regression monster bringing him at least some of the distance back to the latter numbers. But underlying metrics glowing with red at Baseball Savant always help to push back those demons, and most notably an average exit velocity and hard-hit percentage that both sit in the top 4% leaguewide.

He excels against righties too while putting up an .813 OPS and .302 batting average compared to a .776 and .244 when facing a southpaw. And the righty he'll clash with tonight in Tomoyuki Sugano relies heavily on contact while posting a putrid K/9 of 5.4, and he's tied for 16th leaguewide with 14 homers allowed.
