Rangers vs. Orioles Prediction & Picks: MLB Odds for Tuesday, March 31
Last Updated: March 31, 2026 12:13 PM EDT • 5 minute read X Social Google News Link
An ailing ace takes on a struggling offense, and that matchup is central to our Rangers vs. Orioles prediction.
My MLB picks focus on the Jacob deGrom vs. Zach Eflin mound duel, with the former dealing with a neck issue, and the latter highly prone to homer frenzies. Both of those situations lead to intriguing betting opportunities, especially as we look to capitalize on deGrom potentially dominating over a shorter outing.
It all gets underway from Camden Yards at 6:35 p.m. ET (ESPN), with the Rangers entering as the -130 favorites.

🏆 Who will win Rangers vs. Orioles?
deGrom will be his usual brilliant self, easily besting the far outmatched Eflin. However, given his neck issues early in the season, there's a good chance the Rangers are cautious with their oft-injured ace, leading to a shorter outing from deGrom. But the Rangers' stellar bullpen should be more than up to the task after he departs.
Score prediction: Rangers 6, Orioles 2
💰 Rangers vs. Orioles prediction & best bet
Rangers ML (-130)
Even if deGrom's appearance is somewhat limited, he'll face an Orioles lineup missing Jordan Westburg and Jackson Holliday. Some of their notable healthy stars are struggling early too, including Gunnar Henderson, who's slashing .188/.278/.375., and new acquisition Pete Alonso with his .620 OPS.
There's also little time to exhale if deGrom passes the baton off to his bullpen early. It's a unit that's carrying over its steamrolling from last year. That's when Rangers relievers put up a 3.62 ERA (fifth), and now through four games the bullpen arms in Texas have posted an MLB-leading 0.56 ERA.
📡 SBR Edge: Still bringing the heat
The aging and frequently hurt deGrom still boasts a fastball that sits in the 92nd percentile velocity-wise while averaging 97.5 mph.
🔥 Best Rangers vs. Orioles player prop bet
Jacob deGrom Under 1.5 earned runs allowed (+100)
Achieving nearly unmatched run suppression while battling through an injury is the tale of deGrom's career.
When he's on the mound, the magic is there. That should be the case again tonight, albeit quite possibly in a limited outing as the Rangers use caution with their frequently banged-up 37-year-old.
deGrom was able to do long toss fine over the weekend after being scratched on Saturday. So now he'll make his season debut against an Orioles offense that's scuffling early while posting a .636 OPS (20th) and slugging just .323 (23rd). That's led to averaging just 3.25 runs across three games (22nd).
The two-time Cy Young winner may need to stifle those slumping bats for fewer innings, and he'll do it while leaning on a four-seamer that's still fiery while generating a .189 batting average last year, according to Baseball Savant.
💣 Rangers vs. Orioles home run prediction
Corey Seager to hit a home run (+295)
Zach Eflin was regularly roasted last season en route to a mammoth 2.3 HR/9, which is over a home run higher than the league average after he gave up 18 dingers across 71 1/3 innings.
His OPS allowed was a .893, with a fly-ball rate at a career-worst 29.5%. And he did all that while unsurprisingly performing far worse at home (.914 OPS allowed), with Camden Yards finishing as the ninth-most homer-friendly venue, according to Statcast's ballpark factors.
All of that greatly helps my moneyline pick, and it'll boost Corey Seager's chances of leaving the yard too. The lefty slugger put up a .926 OPS against righties last year.
🚀 Rangers vs. Orioles same-game parlay
My confidence in the Rangers' moneyline anchors this parlay, and it gets a boost with the plus-money odds from deGrom to be his usual suffocating self against a struggling offense. I'll stick with Seager to do damage as well, though while taking the more conservative and reachable route with the total bases prop.

💡 How I'm betting Rangers vs. Orioles: MLB strategy
Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.
I haven't exceeded a full unit often yet early in this MLB season, and admittedly there's some risk here in doing so given whatever uncertainty is tied to deGrom's workload.
But I feel strongly about the Rangers' mismatch against Eflin and his vulnerability at home, which easily balances any injury concerns tied to deGrom. Even if we get five innings from the veteran stud, those frames will be dazzling, and then a shutdown bullpen can take over.
Going slightly below a full unit on the deGrom prop is tied to his injury, though in a way that could benefit us here, as there might be fewer opportunities for the Orioles to score against him.
📊 Live Rangers vs. Orioles odds
There's been mild movement toward the Rangers since markets opened for this game at the best MLB betting sites. Texas widely opened around -130 and can now be found at -135 through DraftKings. However, moneyline betting is nearly split at DraftKings, though the Rangers are getting the edge at 55% of the bets.
Similarly, the total has moved from an opening number of 8 to 8.5, and now plenty of action is coming in on the Under, with 60% of bets going that way at DraftKings.
Stick with the Rangers on the moneyline up to about -140, and keep an eye out for the total possibly moving back down again as first pitch approaches.
