San Francisco squandered a chance to generate rare momentum, with its three-game winning streak snapped over the weekend. The Giants have not won four straight games since July 5-8, and their 8-17 record since then is why I am backing San Diego with my Padres vs. Giants prediction in a battle of aces.
Webb continues to be San Francisco’s most reliable workhorse and innings eater. But he is also coming off back-to-back starts of 109-plus pitches, and this Padres vs. Giants best bet comes with the expectation that he will flounder after turning in his two highest pitch counts of the season.
Webb has been burned by some of San Diego’s biggest bats. Luis Arraez and Jackson Merrill each have an OPS of 1.115 or better in 27 combined at-bats against the righty. And the Padres have gotten production from some less heralded players of late, like Ramon Laureano, who entered yesterday with 10 hits and eight RBI in eight games since San Diego acquired him in a trade.
The Giants are 1-3 in Webb’s last four starts, while the Padres won two straight Yu Darvish starts, including two of three against teams currently with a winning record.
FanDuel is the only one of our best MLB betting sites offering better than +118 odds for this wager.

✅ Best Padres vs. Giants player prop: Logan Webb Under 4.5 strikeouts (+120 via DraftKings)

Webb’s 165 strikeouts are the fifth-most in the league, but I expect a lower ceiling when facing a strikeout-averse San Diego lineup as my best Padres vs. Giants player prop.
Webb’s odds to stay under 5.5 strikeouts are juiced too high (as high as -170 at bet365), which is telling considering he has recorded double-digit strikeouts in back-to-back starts. But each of those came against a Pittsburgh Pirates lineup that ranks in the bottom seven in strikeout rate against righties, while San Diego owns the lowest strikeout rate of any NL team in that split.
Webb has six and seven strikeouts in two starts against the Padres this year, but the fact that San Diego has lowered its strikeout rate even further since the start of July has us taking a flier on his lower strikeout total at plus-money odds.
📈 Padres vs. Giants odds movement
Seems like the oddsmakers are thinking along with us, as the moneyline at BetMGM has moved in favor of the Padres, who opened Sunday night at +120 but moved to +110 as of Monday at 6:50 p.m. ET. That being said, the moneyline bets are split nearly right down the middle at Padres 51 percent to Giants 49.
On the total of 7.5, 76 percent of bettors are taking the under.

What is the run line in baseball?
The run line in baseball is a form of point spread betting unique to MLB. It typically sets a standard spread of 1.5 runs, meaning the favored team must win by at least two runs to cover the run line, while the underdog can lose by one run or win outright to cover.
