My Netherlands vs. Venezuela predictions as part of our World Baseball Classic betting picks are locking in on a heavily favored Venezuela side.

The odds show Venezuela as the -490 favorite to win, with first pitch slated for noon ET on Friday from LoanDepot Park in Miami, Fla.

It could turn into a tuneup game quickly for Venezuela, as the Netherlands is far outgunned.

💰 Netherlands vs. Venezuela best bet

Venezuela -3.5 (+105)

We'll dive into the Netherlands' expected pitching woes in a moment. For now, know that it could get really bad fast, and a staff that was torched often during the last WBC gets the not-so soft landing of facing a gauntlet from Venezuela featuring Ronald Acuna Jr., Jackson Chourio, and Eugenio Suarez.

Those three come loaded with power, and they combined for 91 home runs last season in MLB, a whopping 49 of which came from Suarez.

🔥 Netherlands vs. Venezuela Over/Under prediction

Over 9.5 (-110)

The Netherlands' pitching can be wildly inconsistent. Some of the same core pieces from the 2023 WBC have returned, and that staff was either air-tight or ready to implode, with little in between.

The Dutch allowed two or fewer runs during two of their five games in 2023, but the team's staff averaged 6.7 runs surrendered across the other three. That included a combined 16 runs against Italy and Chinese Taipei, two rosters that aren't exactly brimming with MLB studs like Venezuela.

Combine that pitching weakness with enough pop from the likes of Xander Bogaerts and Ozzie Albies on the Netherlands side, and this one should get Over the line with relative ease.

🚀 Netherlands vs. Venezuela same-game parlay

There's a clear correlation here between Venezuela throttling a weak Netherlands pitching staff, and the Over cashing, likely with the Dutch doing their expected share of the lifting too.

This is a simple parlay, but an ideal one to boost the odds and potential payout ahead of such a slanted matchup.

💵 Best Netherlands vs. Venezuela parlay bet

  • Venezuela -3.5 (+105)
  • Over 9.5 (-110)

Best odds: +192 via DraftKings (1u -> 1.92u)

⚖️ How I'm betting Netherlands vs. Venezuela

There's always some uncertainty with these early-tournament games, with the potential for upsets.

However, once we get past any nerves tied to baseball getting weird, this game feels safer than most in the early going. That's why we can place a unit down on either play here—Venezuela covering the run line or the Over on 9.5—with reasonable confidence.

For Venezuela, it's a warm-up game for what lies ahead against more threatening nations in the tournament. And for the Netherlands, an overmatched side will wait for another day to produce its first upset of the tournament, as it did in 2023 against Cuba.

📊 Netherlands vs. Venezuela odds & analysis

Here are the World Baseball Classic odds for Netherlands vs. Venezuela on Friday at noon ET; odds via FanDuel:

Market Netherlands Venezuela
Moneyline +365 -490
Run line +3.5 (-124) -3.5 (+102)
Over/Under Over 9.5 (-110) Under 9.5 (-110)

There's a massive lean toward Venezuela, which is expected given the impressive star power on that club.

As steep as it is, backing Venezuela on the moneyline at -490 through FanDuel is a bargain of some significance, as Caesars is listing the same favorite at -600. Expect the other best sports betting sites to adjust and shorten fast, as 91% of the action at DraftKings is coming in on Venezuela.

The significantly more profitable play lies in the run line, which likely won't receive much more movement. Venezuela possesses the offensive thump to cash appealing plus-money odds.

Key players to watch

Netherlands - Ozzie Albies: Albies has regressed in recent seasons, mostly due to poor injury luck. But he thrived during the second half of the last campaign, with his OPS jumping from .606 in the opening months to .769 to finish out. There's still a 30-30 player in there somewhere when Albies is healthy, as he was in 2023, and that version of him showing up over a short stint is critical now for the Netherlands.

Venezuela - Ronald Acuna Jr.: Albies' teammate on the Atlanta Braves is an all-around athletic wonder and five-tool player. He missed a chunk of last season while recovering from an ACL tear. Yet Acuna still registered a .935 OPS while clubbing 21 homers over 95 games, all while not fully himself. The full Acuna experience is electric, as he showed pre-injury in 2023 with 41 homers and 73 stolen bases.
