Wednesday's MLB slate gets underway early with the New York Yankees hosting the Washington Nationals, and I'm breaking it down with my Nationals vs. Yankees prediction. First pitch is at 1:05 p.m. ET from Yankee Stadium in New York (MLBN).

New York is just 1-3 in Max Fried’s last four starts, so there is not much value in backing its moneyline odds as a single wager.

And while Washington has been swept in just one of its 11 series since the All-Star break, I expect the Yankees to win. I'm adding the Under as a two-leg parlay to my Nationals vs. Yankees prediction.

The Yankees, in recent years, have rarely hit well when facing a young pitcher for the first time. Nationals rookie Cade Cavalli has a great chance to make it three straight quality starts after he neutralized a dangerous Phillies lineup in each of his last two outings.

Overall, three of Cavalli’s four starts have seen nine or fewer combined runs scored.

Cavalli is tasked with limiting a Yankees offense that scored 10-plus runs for the 19th time this season in the series-opening win after producing 16 such games last year.

But I am backing the Under as the second leg of my parlay as my Nationals vs. Yankees best bet, mainly because of the confidence I have in Fried.

He may have turned a corner after throwing six scoreless innings against the Boston Red Sox, which followed a streak of six straight starts with four-plus runs allowed.

Chisholm has already guaranteed himself his first career 25-home run season after blasting three home runs in the last three games. He has thoroughly enjoyed the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium, as he now has 36 home runs in 146 games since joining the Yankees last year.

This best Nationals vs. Yankees player prop may conflict with my parlay wager on the Under, but there is still plenty of wiggle room even if Chisholm were to go yard.

New York has hit 36 home runs in its last 14 games since August 11, the most in the majors. And Cavalli has allowed all of his home runs in road starts this season, with none allowed at Nationals Park.
