Italy saved ace Aaron Nola for this game under the impression that it would likely be a must-win, and I think it's still treated as such. Mexico is hovering around a -275 betting favorite despite not yet announcing a starting pitcher.

Second, a reminder that most of team Italy are Italian-Americans who play in MLB. They're not going to collude against Team USA in front of a national audience. This is going to be a real game, and I'm expecting plenty of runs.

Duran hits leadoff, which, if you've read my other articles, is something I look for when making these bets. He could get an entire extra plate appearance vs. someone like Alek Thomas or Nick Gonzales, who hit toward the bottom of the lineup.
Duran will rip a base knock off Nola within the first three innings and get his second against the Italy bullpen.
