The Los Angeles Dodgers have been the favorite to win the World Series for nearly the entire season since they won it all last October, and the World Series look-ahead odds favor the defending champions regardless of who they face in the Fall Classic.

The Dodgers are priced as the overwhelming betting favorite to beat either the Seattle Mariners or Toronto Blue Jays based on the hypothetical MLB look-ahead lines entering Game 7 of the ALCS tonight (8:08 p.m. ET, FOX). The winner of Mariners vs. Blue Jays will face the Dodgers on Friday for Game 1 of the 2025 World Series.

Below, we break down the early MLB odds for the World Series hypothetical matchups between the Dodgers and the winner of Mariners vs. Blue Jays. These odds are courtesy of bet365 and could change after the conclusion of Game 7 tonight.

🔵 Dodgers favored over Blue Jays, Mariners in hypothetical matchups

It doesn't matter who faces across the Dodgers in the World Series - our best MLB betting sites have already made up their minds about the final result.

Los Angeles is dealing at shorter than -200 odds regardless of the opponent to win the World Series for a second consecutive season, which has happened only 14 times in MLB history and not since the New York Yankees won three straight from 1998-2000.

That shouldn't surprise anyone who's followed along since the Dodgers built this current iteration of their baseball Death Star ahead of last season, when they signed Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (among others) to join previous MVP winners Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts for an eventual title-winning roster.

That core nucleus led the way in a rather uninspiring 4-1 series win over the Yankees in the World Series, and the Dodgers have retained favorite status for nearly the entire year since - only briefly losing their perch in the Wild Card Series before dispatching the Cincinnati Reds (2-0), Philadelphia Phillies (3-1), and Milwaukee Brewers (4-0) en route to a second straight Fall Classic appearance.

🔱 Mariners the biggest threat to LA?

Perhaps the most interesting thing about these early World Series odds isn't that Los Angeles is favored - it's the difference in price for the two hypothetical matchups.

If the Dodgers face the Blue Jays, oddsmakers are giving L.A. an implied probability of 68.75% to repeat as World Series champions at -220 odds. Conversely, a matchup with the Mariners sees the Dodgers' odds dip to -210 with a 67.74% win probability.

That may not seem like much of a difference (and it isn't), but it's still curious to see the betting market show more respect for Seattle as a potential opponent despite the Blue Jays entering the ALCS as series favorites and being favored to win Game 7 tonight.

That suggests oddsmakers have seen enough from the Mariners through six games to give them the edge in a potential clash with the Dodgers, who swept Seattle in a three-game series to end the regular season. That was their only meeting in 2025, while Los Angeles took two of three from Toronto in a three-game series in early August.
