🚀 Blue Jays ML (+124) ⭐⭐⭐
Yamamoto is terrifying for the opposition. He's given up just a single earned run in each of his past two outings while absurdly pitching a complete game both times.
But as we reach nearly as long as a baseball season can possibly go, there are lurking concerns about Yamamoto's workload, which I'll dive into deeper below. As much as it would be accurate to dress up for Halloween tonight as Superman while putting on your Dodgers uniform and Yamamoto jersey, the hurler lasting a more typical roughly six innings tonight seems more plausible after two games with historically heavy lifting.
He stayed in the game for just four innings during an NLDS loss to the Philadelphia Phillies while giving up three earned runs. And although he was brilliant in the wild-card round, that outing ended after 6 2/3 frames. If a similar departure happens tonight and the game is close, as it was during much of Game 2 when Yamamoto was last on the mound, the Blue Jays will get to capitalize on a Dodgers bullpen with a 4.56 ERA this postseason.
Our Shane Jackson believes Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will contribute while making his Dodgers vs. Blue Jays player props. And our Dodgers vs. Blue Jays prediction plays it a little safer while taking Toronto to cover +1.5.
🚀 Under 7.5 (-107) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The bullpens could lead to some nervous moments with this leg of my Dodgers vs. Blue Jays same-game parlay, as that's the glaring weakness for both teams. In addition to the Dodgers' woes on that front, the Blue Jays aren't much better while posting a 4.54 ERA this postseason.
But even if Yamamoto departs at a somewhat more normal part of the game, the exposure to the bullpens on both sides should be limited enough to stay Under this number, with Kevin Gausman and the veteran's 2.55 playoff ERA doing his part, too.
A similar scenario played out in Game 2 between those two same starters, with Gausman pitching deep into the evening while lasting 6 2/3 innings. He was chased from the game eventually after giving up two home runs, and then Los Angeles added two more runs off the Blue Jays' bullpen. The final run tally still finished at six.
🚀 Yoshinobu Yamamoto Under 19.5 outs recorded (-126) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It's hard to believe, but at some point there will surely be a hint of humanity from Yamamoto. Eventually the mileage adds up on even the most bionic-seeming arms, and that's especially true for Yamamoto after consecutive complete games.
The righty has now logged 28 2/3 playoff innings. That comes after his 173 2/3 regular-season workload, which was already a steep climb up from the 90 he recorded last campaign. His total including the playoffs this year is then 197.1. He's handled a workload in that vicinity before, but not for a while since registering 193.2 innings and 193 innings over back-to-back years in Japan (2021 and 2022). He also missed three months last season with a rotator cuff injury.
His pitch counts have been heavy by modern standards throughout the playoffs as well, while exceeding 100 pitches in three of his four postseason starts, and topping out at 113 in the wild-card round. The Dodgers will no doubt lean on Yamamoto as much as they can, with manager Dave Roberts knowing the limitations of his bullpen. However, hoping will eventually collide with realistic expectations.
DraftKings is one of the few best sports betting sites offering this prop at 19.5, with most others at 18.5. That's significant, as every out matters a whole lot given Yamamoto's recent marathon starts. We're paying for it accordingly, but the juice is worth it, and the better line is the primary reason to make this parlay at DraftKings.
