It's win-and-in for both of these teams today, as either Canada or Cuba will join Puerto Rico as Pool A qualifiers. The best sports betting sites have this priced as a wildly competitive game, and our Canada vs. Cuba predictions couldn't agree more.

These are two teams that have played very similar brands of baseball through three games, and, as a result, Canada is trading as a small -160 betting favorite. It'll send MLB veteran Cal Quantrill to the mound for this massive showdown, while the underdogs will roll with Livan Moinelo, who pitched a gem in Cuba's first game.

💰 Canada vs. Cuba best bet

Under 8.5 (-115)

Of the combined six games these teams have played, only their contests against Colombia went Over this total.

Canada is coming off a 3-2 win over Puerto Rico, and I expect a similar result today. I think Quantrill and Moinelo limit the damage early on, and then it will be on the bullpens to keep this close.

I don't love betting the run line of 1.5 for either side, because I think it could end in the range of 3-2 or 4-2 for Canada, and those are very different results depending on which team you bet on to cover.

🔥 Best Canada vs. Cuba player prop

Abraham Toro 2+ hits (+300)

Toro has lowkey been a monster for Canada during the WBC. He's batting .400 in three games, and he's hit safely in each of them. For whatever reason, he's been batting toward the bottom of the lineup, which I don't love when betting on a player to record multiple hits. The higher they are in the order, the better chance they have at getting an additional plate appearance.

However, Ernie Whitt did move Owen Caissie slightly up the lineup yesterday, and I'm hoping, with the team's tournament on the line, he really thinks about the batting order today. The switch-hitting Toro needs to be swapped with Edouard Julien at the top of the order, especially with a left-hander on the mound for Cuba.

If Toro takes over as the leadoff hitter today, this is an absolute steal.

💣 Canada vs. Cuba home run prediction

Tyler O'Neill home run (+450)

Tyler O'Neill has been crushing the ball through three games, and yet he has just a .111 average and no home runs to show for it. I think that changes today.

O'Neill had the fifth-hardest-hit ball in yesterday's game, two of the five furthest-hit balls, and three hard-hit balls overall. He just hasn't quite gotten the launch angle right yet, resulting in either massive fly balls or liners straight at the defense.

I'm betting on a proven home run hitter - two MLB seasons with 30-plus homers - to do what he has throughout his career and launch one in the seats against Cuba.

🚀 Canada vs. Cuba same-game parlay

I'm parlaying the Under 8.5 and adding two players props with the Canada moneyline for our Canada vs. Cuba SGP at DraftKings. Of course, you can see the odds are long, so limit your wager size.

💵 Best Canada vs. Cuba parlay bet

  • Abraham Toro 1+ hit (-185)
  • Tyler O'Neill 1+ hit (-205)

⚖️ How I'm betting Canada vs. Cuba

I'm keeping things pretty tight here, just as I did yesterday when Canada played Puerto Rico. As part of my bankroll management for this game, I'm rocking with a full-unit bet on the Under, and then a combined unit on Toro and O'Neill. I don't love betting on this -160 moneyline, but I also don't want to bet on the underdogs.

There are three big games today with plenty of stars playing, so I'd prefer to be a little more reserved with my wagers for this first contest.

The longest odds on Canada to win outright are -156, so you absolutely can bet on the moneyline if you want. Certainly, if you think Cuba can pull off the upset, that's worth a bet since the run line is a tight 1.5. At DraftKings, bettors are nearly split on the major markets. We're seeing 53% of the moneyline bets being placed on the favorites, 59% of the bets for the total on the Over, and 52% of the run line bets on Cuba to cover +1.5. 🆚 Canada vs. Cuba starting pitchers & projected lineups

Here are the projected starting pitchers and lineups for today's Canada vs. Cuba matchup:

Position Canada Cuba
Starting pitcher Cal Quantrill Livan Moinelo
C Liam Hicks Omar Hernandez
1B Josh Naylor Ariel Martinez
2B Edouard Julien Yiddi Cappe
SS Otto Lopez Erisbel Arruebarrena
3B Abraham Toro Yoan Moncada
LF Owen Caissie Leonel Moas Jr.
CF Denzel Clarke Roel Santos
RF Tyler O'Neill Yoelkis Guibert
DH Matt Davidson Alfredo Despaigne

Key players to watch

Canada - Matt Davidson: Davidson entered yesterday as a pinch-hitter, and though he went 0-for-2, I think he could get the start today against a lefty over Tyler Black and Jared Young, both of whom are left-handed hitters.

Cuba - Ariel Martinez: Martinez has been a monster so far, with a .333 average and a home run. Cuba's lineup hasn't been very good overall, but he represents danger for Canada's pitching staff.
