I'm sitting just a tick below profitability in an always challenging and volatile market, and my home run predictions today are leaning on a veteran slugger who's looking more like himself lately.

That's Rafael Devers, who's been hitting the ball hard for a while now but is finally getting results. He leads my MLB home run picks while benefiting from the Coors Field launchpad, and I'm also tabbing two other scorching hitters in Christian Walker and Kazuma Okamoto.

Home run pick: Rafael Devers (+288)

Devers is back to clobbering baseballs regularly while putting up a 51.1% hard-hit rate that's in the top 8% leaguewide. That's resulted in an impressive June featuring eight of his 15 homers this campaign.

He's been even better more recently while putting up a 1.285 OPS across the past week. As always, Devers rides his righty-mashing ways to success, as he's producing an .871 OPS against righties this season as opposed to a .560 against southpaws.

The veteran knows how to nail his pitch, and we see that with his 94-mph average exit velocity against fastballs.

Home run pick: Christian Walker (+343)

Walker will spend much of his evening against the Rays' Nick Martinez. As our Mike Spector also notes in his Rays vs. Astros prediction, there's been some serious regression recently from Martinez.

That's been showing up in many ways, and most glaringly a .799 OPS allowed during June, a concerning increase from a promising start to the season when Martinez sat at .570 throughout March and April.

He now needs to deal with Walker, which is a challenging task for a pitcher who relies on deception and movement far more than sheer velocity while using his fastball rarely. Walker is slugging .644 against sliders, a pitch Martinez throws 38% of the time to righties.

Home run pick: Kazuma Okamoto (+458)

Okamoto has risen to third in the MLB Rookie of the Year odds on the American League side, and he's done it through brute force. He sits among the top 15 in home runs after clubbing 19 already.

The newcomer is fresh off his best month yet, with Okamoto posting a .913 OPS and .560 slugging percentage during June. The third baseman's path to that production is simple: pulverize heaters and pull with authority.

His air pull rate rests at a sky-high 26.5%, and Okamoto is slugging .646 against four-seamers with a 61.5% hard-hit rate. He gets an ideal matchup tonight against Luis Castillo then, the fading veteran who throws his fastball 42% of the time to righties.
