The Tampa Bay Rays flipped the ALCS with consecutive wins over the Cleveland Guardians, leaving them one win away from a trip to the World Series, and my Guardians vs. Rays prediction for Game 6 expects Tampa Bay to clinch the pennant on the strength of another outstanding pitching performance from Freddy Peralta. And even though the Rays have hit just two home runs in this series, I'm backing one of their sluggers to go deep with the last of my MLB picks.

First pitch from Tropicana Field is set for 8 p.m. ET tonight (TBS/truTV), and the Rays are -140 betting favorites.

Guardians vs. Rays prediction & best bet

Rays ML (-138)

Tampa Bay’s 3-1 victory over Cleveland in Game 5 mirrored the style of baseball that earned it the most wins of any American League team. The Rays stole two bases and had four hits with runners in scoring position, while the Guardians had none in either split.

The Rays pitching staff has also done a great job of keeping the ball on the ground and not letting Cleveland’s hitters elevate the baseball. Four Rays pitchers induced 13 ground balls to six fly balls, and I worry about Cleveland’s bullpen being overexposed after using another six pitchers on Sunday.

📡 SBR Edge: Tampa Bay's winning streak under Peralta

Tampa Bay has won nine straight games that Freddy Peralta has started while outscoring opponents 49-14.

Best Guardians vs. Rays player prop bet

Freddy Peralta Over 14.5 outs (+105)

Freddy Peralta is coming off his second career postseason win, and his six-inning outing was his longest in a playoff appearance.

Peralta is now 6-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 12 starts with Tampa Bay. He threw 23 pitches at 97+ mph in his last start, and his previous career high was 20 in this year’s ALDS Game 2.

Peralta’s 0.81 ERA is the lowest of any pitcher (min. 30 IP) since Aug. 26. Over those eight starts, he has allowed a .160 opponent’s average and .447 opponent’s OPS.

Peralta’s increased fastball velocity is a big reason I expect another dominant outing. In his two postseason starts, his fastball velocity has been 96.8 and 96.9, respectively, with his last four starts being the highest average fastball velocities of his career as a starting pitcher.

Based on Tampa Bay’s 4.60 bullpen ERA in this series, I expect Peralta to be given a long leash.

Guardians vs. Rays home run prediction

Yandy Diaz to hit a home run (+700)

Before Yandy Diaz’s three-hit game, including a first-inning double in Game 5, he had 22 other career postseason hits with the Rays, tying him with Evan Longoria for the third-most in franchise history.

In the first six games of this postseason, Diaz went 6-for-25 with two extra-base hits, no RBI, and three runs scored. Over the last two games, he is 5-for-10 with three extra-base hits, 2 RBI, and three runs.

Diaz’ .762 slugging percentage to the opposite field is the eighth-highest since the start of 2025 (min. 100 PA). In addition, his 22.2% hard-hit per swing percentage is the second-highest since 2022 (min. 2500 swings).
