WM Phoenix Open Expert Picks 2024: Outrights & Props for The People's Open

We're making our top WM Phoenix Open picks based on the best PGA Tour odds this week with one of golf's premier events finishing on Super Bowl Sunday.

The People's Open remains a favorite of fans and golfers alike and has drawn another strong field as we make our WM Phoenix Open expert picks and predictions based on the odds from our best golf betting sites.

Scottie Scheffler - ranked No. 1 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) - is the betting favorite this week while seeking a third straight win in the WM Phoenix Open. Scheffler tied for sixth in last week's weather-shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which saw Wyndham Clark crowned as the winner after leading through 54 holes of the Signature Event.

We've been scouring the WM Phoenix Open odds for months with DraftKings posting early odds in the fall. Those odds saw some significant changes once the final field was set on Friday, but we're still seeing plenty of value with Scheffler's short odds helping to boost the prices for those below him.

To accompany our WM Phoenix Open sleepers and long-shot picks, we're making our WM Phoenix Open picks based on the golf odds from our best sports betting apps.

WM Phoenix Open outright pick

Rickie Fowler to win (+7000 via bet365⭐⭐⭐

Fowler returned to glory - and the PGA Tour's winner's circle - last summer, but his 2024 campaign has gotten off to a rough start. He missed the cut in The Sentry and The American Express before a ho-hum T-47 finish in last week's weather-shortened Pebble Beach event.

Still, Fowler enters this week at No. 29 in the OWGR. That has him as the 12th-best golfer in this field by that measure. Fowler ranked 25th on the PGA Tour in birdie-or-better percentage from this week's key distance of 150-175 yards, and his iron play has a remained a strength through his rough start to this season.

Fowler has 52 career rounds played at TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course, including a T-10 finish last February. He won this event in 2019 and has averaged 1.67 true strokes gained on the field per round.

His outright odds are as low as +5500 and no better than +6000 elsewhere, so bet365 is giving us an excellent price.

WM Phoenix Open prop picks

Si Woo Kim to finish top 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +600 via bet365

Kim finished T-14 in the shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. It was his putting stroke on the difficult Poa annua greens that hurt him, as he lost 0.33 strokes per round with his flat stick while ranking eighth in the elite field with 1.78 strokes gained: approach.

Excellent iron play and a strong short game (0.83 SG: around-the-green per round) will have Kim back in contention at TPC Scottsdale. Though he struggled early in his career at this event, Kim finished T-26 in 2022 and T-23 last year.

The 46th-ranked golfer in the OWGR has odds to win of +6000 via bet365 and DraftKings, but I prefer this top-10 ticket while we're still getting 6-1 odds for a $60 profit on a winning $10 bet.

DraftKings promo for the WM Phoenix Open

DraftKings is giving all eligible users a +300 odds boost to use on any one outright winner bet for the WM Phoenix Open. This would bring Kim's outright odds from +6000 to +6300 for an extra $3 in profit on a $10 bet. Just click here.

Kevin Yu to finish top 20 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +300 via bet365

Yu twice flirted with his first PGA Tour victory - finishing T-3 in The American Express and T-6 in the Farmers Insurance Open - before a T-58 result in last week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. But the weaker field this week could re-open that door for the 113th-ranked golfer in the world.

While Yu will make his professional debut at TPC Scottsdale and will face golf's rowdiest crowd for the first time, his current form sets up perfectly for this course. Yu's 1.04 SG: approach across his last eight measured rounds rank seventh among everyone with that many rounds played. He's also been both long and accurate off the tee in that time span, and he ranked fifth on the PGA Tour in birdie-or-better percentage when approaching the green from 150-175 yards last season.

There are enough big names still in this field for me to not be brave enough to back Yu for his first PGA Tour win, but 3-1 odds for a top 20 finish following his back-to-back top 10s hold strong value.
