If you want to see some offense, Wednesday's Texas Bowl clash between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Ole Miss Rebels is the game for you. Below, we offer up our top Texas Tech-Ole Miss college football picks based on the best NCAAF odds.
Picked to finish near the bottom of the Big 12 Conference, Texas Tech (7-5 ATS, 8-4 O/U) largely exceeded expectations in Joey McGuire’s first year as head coach. The Red Raiders’ feistiness was on display early in the year in a pair of overtime wins over Houston and Texas. Tech also closed the regular season strong with three straight victories.
Ole Miss (4-7-1 ATS, 6-6 O/U) raced out to a 7-0 start, scoring a win over a ranked Kentucky team in the process. The Rebels would suffer their first loss three weeks later and in lopsided fashion against LSU. After letting an opportunity slip away against Alabama, the Rebs proceeded to lose each of their next two games as rumors swirled regarding head coach Lane Kiffin’s future with the program.
Here is our pick for the Texas Bowl matchup between Texas Tech and Ole Miss (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5 star scale).

Texas Tech vs. Ole Miss Odds Analysis
The point spread has experienced very little adjustment after opening up at Ole Miss -4. Presently, bettors will find the Rebels laying 3.5 points across all major sportsbooks in the market. At DraftKings Sportsbook, 70% of all ATS bets and 65% of the handle are on the favorite.
On the flip side, the total has moved several points after opening in the mid-60s. The Over/Under sits north of 70 across the majority of the market as of Tuesday afternoon with 71 reflecting the consensus. Despite taking only 41% of the bets at DraftKings, the Over has accumulated 63% of the handle.

Texas Tech vs. Ole Miss Pick
Ole Miss -3.5 ⭐⭐⭐
Luckily for bettors, the Texas Bowl is not poised to be heavily impacted by players opting out and/or entering the transfer portal. Kiffin has also been inked to a long-term contract extension to stay in Oxford. As such, both teams are mostly intact coming into Wednesday’s contest.
As Ole Miss’ season fell apart down the stretch, plenty of betting analysts and folks on Twitter rushed to say that this was an overrated and fraudulent team. However, one must consider the quality of opponents that the Rebels were facing late in the year. The SEC West Division was without a doubt the deepest in all of college football. There’s no shame in losing to teams like LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi State.
From a matchup standpoint, it’s hard not to love the outlook for the Ole Miss ground game in the Texas Bowl. True freshman Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans spearheaded the nation’s second-leading rushing attack. As a whole, the Rebels ranked 13th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency.
While the Rebels were busy averaging a whopping 264.2 rushing yards per game, Texas Tech was ceding 177.2 yards on the ground per game to its opponents. Compounding matters for the Red Raiders in the bowl game is the fact that star linebacker/end Tyree Wilson is out due to a season-ending injury that he suffered in early November.
The fact that Kiffin has plenty of experience leading teams in bowl games is also noteworthy given that this will be McGuire’s first such matchup as a head coach. The 3.5-point spread feels rather cheap. Perhaps the market is overreacting to Ole Miss’ poor finish to the regular season.
