Penn State was notoriously stingy for the majority of the season but was particularly difficult to score on down the stretch, allowing just 40 total points over its final four games. That recent dominance will be put to the test against a Utah offense that scored 42 or more points in four of its last five games.

Penn State vs. Utah Spread

Utah -2 is the prevailing spread, though both FanDuel and BetMGM are holding out at -2.5.

The Utes posted an impressive 8-5 ATS mark that included successful covers in four of their final five games. Each of those four ATS triumphs came by 6.5 points or more, highlighted by a 47-24 thumping of USC in the Pac-12 Championship as 2.5-point underdogs.

Penn State was a sensational 9-3 against the spread and comes into the Rose Bowl on a six-game cover streak. The Nittany Lions were underdogs just twice in 2022, going 0-2 SU and 1-1 ATS with a one-sided loss to Michigan and a 13-point setback to Ohio State.

Penn State vs. Utah Over/Under

The Rose Bowl total of 52.5 is standard across most sportsbooks, as are the identical -110 odds on the Over and Under.
