Our top Oregon vs. Texas Tech prediction examines if the Texas Tech Red Raiders can bounce back against the Oregon Ducks after suffering a double-overtime road loss in Week 1. Read on as we break down the best college football odds for Week 2.

Texas Tech had one of the most disappointing Week 1 results in college football, as the Red Raiders became the latest power conference program to fall victim to the Wyoming Cowboys in Laramie.

Though Oregon represents a major step-up in opponents, this TTU team has a strong recent history in marquee home games. How will this impact our college football Week 2 predictions?

Here is our best Oregon vs. Texas Tech prediction and college football picks (odds via our best college football betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Pundits seem to be universally on the Oregon side of this matchup, but doesn't this number feel puzzling? The Ducks just blitzed Portland State, 81-7. Meanwhile, the Red Raiders suffered an embarrassing blow to open their season. You'd think this line would have opened with Oregon favored by double digits, right? With this pick, there's a reason it didn't.

There's plenty to like about the Raiders' early track record under head coach Joey McGuire when it comes to big games in Lubbock. Last season, Texas Tech went 2-0 ATS as a home underdog. The Red Raiders won both contests outright in overtime thrillers over Big 12 rivals Oklahoma and Texas.

For McGuire to maintain his brief history of getting his team ready to defy the odds in Lubbock, the Red Raiders need to contain Ducks' QB Bo Nix and Oregon's explosive offense. But dropping 81 against an FCS school at home isn't the same as traveling to Lubbock to face a motivated group that wants to avoid consecutive embarrassing results.

Though Oregon's offensive firepower is likely more than the Red Raiders can handle, I like Texas Tech to score into the 30s to keep within the point spread. Losing another close one won't make the Raiders feel better, but it should be enough for this wager.

The quality of the various odds on a Texas Tech spread wager is relatively similar across the board, with all of our best sports betting apps checking in at TTU +6.5. There are minor differences to exploit on the odds at that +6.5 number, though, as DraftKings and BetMGM both offer the line at -105.

FanDuel isn't as strong at -108, but that's still an improvement over the -110 offerings at Caesars and bet365. Play Texas Tech to +6 as a three-star play.

Oregon vs. Texas Tech odds analysis

Oregon opened as a 6.5-point favorite over Texas Tech. Although 64% of wagers on the spread came in on Oregon, that split hasn't caused the line to move to the key number of -7. We're still seeing -6.5 across the board.

The total opened at 68.5 and remained at that number across the board with a slight majority of wagers being placed on the Over.
