There is plenty of familiarity between these SEC rivals, and I break down the only College Football Playoff quarterfinal between two conference opponents with my Ole Miss vs. Georgia player props for the Sugar Bowl. Kickoff from Caesars Superdome in New Orleans is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN).
No. 3 Georgia is a 6-point betting favorite over No. 6 Ole Miss, after the Bulldogs beat the Rebels 43-35 in the regular season. It’s all part of the many college bowl game predictions.

Trinidad Chambliss Over 31.5 pass attempts (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trinidad Chambliss attempted 36 passes in the shootout in Athens. And despite him completing a season-low 52.8% of those throws, the Bulldogs were one of three opponents he finished with a 90 QBR or better against.
Even though Lane Kiffin is gone, Ole Miss should still utilize its quick passing game with Charlie Weis Jr. calling the plays.
The Rebels use quick dropbacks on 56% of its passing plays (sixth-highest). That is a great way to combat Georgia’s elite run defense that allows 3.8 yards per attempt even in a light box (seventh-best in the country).

Kewan Lacy longest rush Under 16.5 yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Georgia bottled Kewan Lacy up for 31 yards on 12 carries in the regular season meeting, with Lacy’s longest rush going for 12 yards.
The Bulldogs are elite in preventing big running plays. When adjusting for opponents, Georgia ranks 10th in yards allowed before contact and 6th in yards allowed after contact. That gives the Bulldogs the advantage over an Ole Miss running attack that ranks 43rd and 40th in those categories on offense, respectively.
Zachariah Branch anytime touchdown scorer (+135) ⭐⭐⭐
In the first meeting, Zachariah Branch was the only Bulldog with more than five receptions and 57 yards (he finished with an 8-71-0 stat line). He should again be the top target with quarterback Gunner Stockton not pushing the ball much downfield.
Georgia averages five or fewer air yards on 53% of its passes, and Branch has a 29% target share on such throws. He ranks 11th with an 8.0 yards per attempt average on those short passes.
Stockton hit on two pass plays of 36 yards against Ole Miss, which should also loosen things up for Branch underneath.
And I'm not the only person at SBR who thinks Branch is due to find pay dirt: our Rob Paul features him in his Ole Miss vs. Georgia predictions.
